Punta Allen is a small village in the Riviera Maya isolated from the world and with only 400 inhabitants offers a diverse gastronomic variety. That’s why you’re probably wondering what to eat in Punta Allen.
Below, we’ll tell you all about it… Don’t miss any details and write it all down for your next trip to Mexico!
Where to eat
In Punta Allen you will have a great selection of restaurants to choose from as it is the only point closer to the Sian Kaan Biosphere where you can eat.
Our recommendation is that you choose restaurants with typical Mexican food and where they serve local products such as fish and seafood for a more authentic experience.
Although if you take a tour you won’t have to think too much about where to eat, as in the adventure tour in Sian Kaan, where you’ll eat a delicious Caribbean meal with the locals of the area. The best way to get into the Caribbean paradise!
What to eat
Caribbean dishes are usually made with fish and seafood from the area and are typically grilled, in cocktails, marinated… And although Punta Allen does not have traditional dishes exclusive from there, it has a huge influence on Yucatecan cuisine. If you go to Punta Allen we advise you to order the following dishes:
Tikin Chic
Tikin Chic is a grilled fish with chilli, tomatoes and sour orange. A curiosity is that in the authentic version the fish is wrapped in banana leaves, although it is increasingly rare to see it prepared this way.
Cochinita Pibil
Cochinita Pibil is a typical dish consisting of marinated pork with spices. You can accompany it with vegetables and a little rice – what a delight!
Tacos, enchiladas and Yucatecan dishes
Mexican food better known as tacos, enchiladas and Yucatecan dishes is also very popular in Punta Allen. In addition, being a tourist area you will find food from other parts of the world, such as Italian or American fast food.
Now that you know where to eat in Punta Allen and what to eat there surely you are as hungry as we are. Do you feel like it?
