What is the purpose of the access permit to Teide?

There are different trails around the Teide area, but only one reaches the summit, the one called Telesforo Bravo. For Teide National Park safety and conservation issues only 200 people can climb the peak in a day.

With the el Teide permit, you can already imagine where you can go: you can climb to the peak of the third highest volcano in the world. This is the only permit you need to be one of the 200 lucky ones who get to enjoy the views, which are breathtaking.

How to apply for a permit to the Teide peak?

The easiest way to get the Teide peak access permit and reach the peak of the volcano is through the Teide peak climb and cable car tour. On this tour you will discover the peak and you will forget to apply for the access permit, as this is included in the tour, sounds good, doesn’t it? 🙂 .

On the other hand, you always have the option of applying for the permit on your own. How to do this? The only option you have is to do it online.

It’s simple, you must enter the reserves of the National Parks website, click first on the box “Teide” and then on “permission to access the peak of Teide”. Then you must fill in your details (name, surname…) and choose date and time. That’s it!

We recommend that if you choose this second option you book with at least 2 or 3 months anticipation , as this park is one of the most visited in Europe.

Do they ask for my permission when I arrive?

When you are going to enter the Telesforo Bravo trail you must show your “el Teide permit” to the Natural Park agent. You can take it printed or in pdf in the mobile, along with your ID. The great thing about the Howlanders experience is that you don’t need to show anything.

Is the el Teide permit valid for the whole day?

The answer is no. If you have obtained the permit on your own, you can enjoy the summit of Teide for 2 hours (09:0h -11:00h, 11:00 -13:00h, 13:00h-15:00 and 15:00 -17:00h ). But don’t worry, once you’re there, you will surely appreciate the views and enjoy the presen. 2 Hours is a lot!

Also, we recommend that you check that the cable car ticket coincides with your access permit schedules. And with this you would already have everything you need to adventure into the Teide land.

Lucia's life motto is "go with the flow". She lets herself go with the flow and joins any plan.

She has been lucky enough to travel to many different places, but her perfect trip is any place with sun, sand and sea. Indecisive by nature, she would not know how to choose between the Canary Islands or the Balearic Islands in Spain, or between Mexican and Peruvian food. Maybe that's why she will never say no to a trip... She has to find answers!
