Important information

Remember that the altitude is a greater effort for daily tasks and can cause altitude sickness, so it is very important to arrive in Cuzco at least one day before and not to exert yourself physically, eat lightly, drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic beverages. This tour requires physical effort, as you walk for two hours at an altitude of over 5000 meters, so it is not recommended for people with heart problems, children under 12 years old and pregnant women.

Pick up in Cuzco

Our guide will pick us up early to make the most of the day. We will drive for about two hours until we arrive at Pitumarca for breakfast. Then we will continue our trip to Chiripampa to start the Vinicunca Hike.

Hiking The Rainbow Mountains Peru 

We begin the ascent! For two hours we will walk to our destination, the Vinicunca Mountain. Once there we will have free time to rest, take pictures and enjoy the incredible multicolored landscape of the Chiripampa mountain range, the longest mountain range on the planet.

Return to Pitumarca and Cuzco

We finish our Full Day Vinicunca with the descent back to our transportation. We will stop again in Pitumarca for lunch and after the rest we will return to Cuzco where our trip will have come to an end.

Where does the tour Full Day Vinicunca start

We will pick you up at your hotel in Cuzco between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. by minibus, so you don't have to worry about anything.

Cuzco is the main tourist city in Peru and is very well-connected. If your starting point is Lima, you can arrive by bus (24 hours travel time) or take a one-hour flight. 

If you arrive from Arequipa, the bus ride takes ten hours. You can also choose to make the trip by plane. If you arrive from Puno the best option is to do it by bus, a journey of six and a half hours. We also offer the possibility of making this journey in a tourist bus that makes stops at the most important places along the route.

    The difficulty of this trek is medium - high. We recommend having experience in mountain hikes and a good physical condition, as some routes can be more complicated.

    The tour includes pick up from your accommodation located in the metropolitan area of Cuzco. If your accommodation is not within the pick-up perimeter, we will indicate a nearby meeting point to pick you up. Remember to indicate the name and address of your accommodation in the booking form in order to coordinate the pickup.
  • Is the tour suspended due to rain?

    The tour is not suspended due to rain. Due to the climate of the area, it is likely to rain on the day of the tour, especially if you travel during the rainy season (November to April in Cuzco). Likewise, in case of heavy rains or any weather alert that does not allow the activity to be carried out under the necessary safety measures, the session will be suspended and a change of date or a refund will be offered.
