Do you agree that one of the greatest pleasures, when you travel to a beach area, is to enjoy its underwater nature? For us, it is an incredible activity. 6 tips for snorkeling
Know how to swim
Yes, we know it’s obvious, but just in case.
Don’t even think of trying to snorkel if you don’t know how to swim easily. It’s no good having learned to swim a few days or hours before. It is very dangerous if you have no experience in the water.
If you haven’t started learning to swim yet, you don’t know what you’re missing… There is a multitude of water activities in Latin America, and for some of them, you need to know how to swim. So get to work if you don’t want to miss any of them!
Appropriate snorkeling equipment
If you’re snorkeling in shallow waters in summer, you probably don’t need anything more than a breathing tube and a good pair of snorkeling goggles to make sure you don’t miss anything.
You can also get some fins to get you moving like a fish in the water. OK, sorry for the joke…
On the other hand, if you do it during colder seasons, you will need a wetsuit.
Don’t worry, all this equipment will be provided by the company with which you do your activity, for example, snorkeling in Mallorca.
Surely, the the first moments underwater will be impressive. If you’ve never done it before, you’ll be surprised to be able to breathe underwater.
For this, all you have to do is reassure yourself and breathe easily. It will be the best way to enjoy this experience.
Learn how to communicate underwater
Even if you are not in very deep water, you must know how to communicate underwater and how to recognize what someone is saying while you are snorkeling.
If you get seasick or start to feel unwell, or if you want to warn someone of danger, you will have no choice but to learn some basic guidelines.
Can you imagine doing your snorkeling in Menorca, and having to tell someone that a shark is approaching? Well, you’d better not…
Learn basic rescue guidelines
Don’t worry, we’re not talking about being an expert on the subject, just that you know some basic guidelines. If someone gets dizzy, quick action by anyone around them is essential to get them to safety quickly.
This will be taught to you moments before starting your snorkeling in Javea, as in all the other places. Therefore, with this little basic training, it will be enough to save someone’s life.
If in this case, you are the person who has to rescue someone else, we are sure that with some very basic guidelines, you will do it perfectly.
Respect the landscape while snorkeling without touching anything
This is very important. Please do not touch anything on the underwater surface.
You may be tempted to touch the underwater coral, or pick up a goldfish swimming around you on your Galapagos snorkeling activity.
But if you want to help keep all this biodiversity, you’ll just have to enjoy the view, without touching anything around you.
This point is very important too because if all the visitors started to alter these places, they would soon disappear and the landscape would change completely.
With these 6 snorkeling tips, we think you will be ready to jump into the water to enjoy these underwater landscapes. What are you waiting for? What is, for you, the most important tip?
