El Calafate - Cerro Huyliche - El Calafate
Pick up in El Calafate
Our adventure will start when we pick you up at your accommodation at 9:45 a.m. if you select the morning option or 2:45 p.m. if you prefer to join us in the afternoon. Once the whole group is together, we’ll head to the Cerro Huyliche.

Cerro Huyliche
From El Calafate we’ll cover about 9 miles (15km) until reaching the entrance of Cerro Huyliche, where we’ll begin our way up. The first stop in our tour will be a natural lookout point where we’ll be able to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Argentine Lake and El Calafate.

Labyrinth of Stones
We’ll continue our way up until reaching the Labyrinth of Stones, a spectacular geological formation unique in the area. From there, we’ll start our way down on the north mountainside of Cerro Huyliche until reaching the Sombrero Stones, a curious phenomenon that’s only found in 4 places around the world.

Back to El Calafate
Everything good must come to an end, and our tour to the El Calafate Balconies is reaching the end. With the Argentine Lake still in our viewpoint, we’ll start our way back to your accommodation in El Calafate. We hope to see you soon in your next adventure!

Where does the tour El Calafate Balconies start
The city of El Calafate is located 3,000 km from Buenos Aires, and 325 km from the city of Río Gallegos, capital of the province of Santa Cruz. The airport has direct daily connections with Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Bariloche, Trelew, Cordoba and Rosario. Several airlines operate this route, being Aerolineas Argentinas the most frequent one. From Howlanders we also recommend you to check LADE airline.
If you want to arrive by land you can do it by bus. The trip between Buenos Aires and El Calafate takes about 36 hours. From Río Gallegos, the trip takes 4 hours. If you come from Puerto Natales we recommend you to take a bus that arrives to El Calafate in about five hours or hire a private service with us. Finally, if you are traveling from Ushuaia, please check the waiting times due to the crossing of the Strait of Magellan or stopover in Rio Gallegos.
