WINTER ROUTE: During the winter months (from April to September), when snow or mud makes access difficult, the 4x4 tour reaches up to approximately 800 meters at the Balcón Este. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views of El Calafate, Lake Argentino, and the Andes Mountain Range.

SNOW: If snow has accumulated in the area, instead of visiting the Laberinto de Piedras, the guide may replace the visit with a snow tubing/sledding (culipatín) activity on the designated track.

SCHEDULES: The tour offers different departure times starting at 10:00 AM, which vary depending on the time of year.

INCLUDED MEALS: Morning departures include lunch, midday departures include an afternoon snack, and evening departures include dinner.

The adventure begins! Your guide will pick you up in the 4x4 vehicle right at your accommodation in El Calafate at the time you choose.

Once everyone is on board, we’ll head out to Cerro Huyliche to kick off the tour.

Huyliche Hill

We’ll drive about 15 km from El Calafate to reach the entrance of the hill. That’s where the real adventure begins, as we climb high-altitude roads in our 4x4 vehicle surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Our first stop is a natural lookout point with some of the best views in the entire region: Lake Argentino, the vast Patagonian steppe, and El Calafate spread out in the distance.

Stone Labyrinth

We'll continue descending along the southern slope of the hill until we reach the spectacular Stone Labyrinth, an impressive geological formation that's unique to this area.

Here, we'll take a short hike to explore a wide variety of rocks, marine fossils, and caves shaped by thousands of years of wind erosion.

Note: The vehicle may not be able to access the Laberinto de Piedras area if snow has accumulated. In that case, this visit will be replaced with a snow tubing/sledding (culipatín) activity on the track.

Estancia Huyliche - Gastronomic Break

As we make our way down, we’ll arrive at the historic Estancia Huyliche, a working cattle ranch since the 1920s and part of the story of the Rebel Patagonia.

In the ranch’s oldest house, we’ll enjoy a delicious break—lunch, an afternoon snack, or dinner, depending on the time you chose. It’s the perfect moment to relax, share, and savor this unique experience in the heart of Patagonia.
