Height of Machu Picchu

You may think that the most famous Inca city in the world, being in the mountains, has a higher altitude than Cusco, the city from which all our Machu Picchu tours depart. Not so! 😱

Machu Picchu is 2,430 meters above sea level, while Cusco is at 3,399 meters. These changes in altitude can confuse your body and cause certain symptoms of altitude sickness. Don't worry! All you have to do is rest, eat well before doing any of the Machu Picchu tours and take it easy.
