Todo Glaciares Boat Tour

Pick up in El Calafate or meeting at Punta Bandera Port

The Todo Glaciares boat tour has two pick-up options, navigation only or navigation with transfers to and from El Calafate. If you select the option with transfers, you will be picked up at your accommodation in El Calafate around 7:00 am and set course to Puerto Punta Banderas, which is 29.2 miles (47 km) away. If you choose the option without transfers, (it is ideal to have your vehicle), you will have to go directly to the port, where you will meet the rest of the group at 8:30 in the morning.

Upsala Channel Navigation

At 8:30 am guests will begin boarding and your guide will take the time to discuss the tour and its features. At 9:00 am the boat will leave port to sail along the northern arm of Lake Argentino to reach the Upsala Channel, famous for its abundant ice floes that break from the wall of the Upsala Glacier.

Seco and Spegazzini Glacier (Los Glaciares National Park)

The Todo Glaciares tour includes the Spegazzini Channel and passes by the Seco Glacier, a hanging glacier that does not touch the water. After passing by the Seco Glacier you will have the opportunity to view Spegazzini Glacier as well. Did you know that it holds the title of tallest glacier in the national park?

Disembarkation at Base Spegazzini

Before returning to port, you’ll make a stop at the "Refugio Spegazzini," a site specially designed for this tour. It features a viewpoint, terrace, and a large dining room. At the refuge you can stretch your legs on the paseo that is accessible and suitable for all travelers. During this part of the tour your guides will also teach the group about the Andean-Patagonian forest. Some free time for lunch will be provided. Enjoy a meal with stunning views of the glacier wall.

Return to Punta Bandera Port / El Calafate

The All Glaciers tour comes to an end by sailing back to Punta Bandera Port. The ship will dock around 4:00 pm finally concluding this incredible adventure. If you have selected the option with transfers, a vehicle will be waiting for you at the port to take you back to your accommodation in El Calafate, where you should arrive at approximately 5:15 pm.

The city of El Calafate is located 1,864 mi from Buenos Aires, and 202 mi from the city of Río Gallegos, the capital of the province of Santa Cruz. The airport has direct daily connections with Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Bariloche, Trelew, Cordoba, and Rosario. Several airlines operate this route, with Aerolineas Argentinas as the most frequent one. At Howlanders, we also recommend considering LADE Airlines. If you want to arrive by land the best option is via bus. The trip between Buenos Aires and El Calafate takes about 36 hours and from Río Gallegos, the trip is about four hours. If you’ll be traveling from Puerto Natales we recommend taking a bus that arrives at El Calafate in about five hours or hiring a private service with us. Finally, if you are traveling from Ushuaia, please check the wait times due to the crossing of the Strait of Magellan or stopover in Rio Gallegos.

    No, the entrance fee to the National Park is not included. There are several types of entrance tickets available and you can buy the tickets that best suit your plans. Remember to bring Argentine pesos because the entrance fee to the national park should be paid with local currency or select credit cards. Only some credit cards are accepted and foreign currency is not accepted. But don't worry, your guide will help and direct you to which park ticket to purchase on the day of the tour.

  • Will I be picked up at my accommodation in El Calafate?

    If pick-up from accommodations is desired, when booking the tour, be sure to select the option of pick-up in El Calafate. Another option without pick-up is available to purchase: the boat tour without transfers.
