Tour itinerary
Chaltén Day Trip
Duration: 12,5 hours
Pick up in El Calafate
The guide will pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate at 7:30 a.m. and start the trip to El Chaltén. On the way, the driver will make a stop at Estancia La Leona where you can have breakfast and go to the bathroom. We recommend you try one of their delicious homemade cakes.
During the trip you will have incredible views of mountainous landscapes such as Cerro Chaltén, known as Fitz Roy, Torre and also the Viedma Glacier.

Visit to El Chaltén
Once you arrive at your destination, you will have 5 hours to tour the village and the mountain. If you have chosen the option with lunch, the guide will take you to a local restaurant or deliver your lunch (this option will be available from the end of April to September). If your reservation does not include lunch, take the opportunity to enjoy some of the delicacies that the town of El Chaltén has to offer.
Here we offer you two different trekking options to do from El Chaltén.

Option 1: Mirador de los Cóndores and Chorrillo del Salto.
The first option is available every day of the year and is ideal for those who do not want to force the hike too much. The guide will accompany you during the excursion to tell you all about the place.
You will walk 700 meters up the mountain to reach the Mirador de los Cóndores from where you will be able to enjoy the views and the birds that surround it. Then you will walk a little further to reach the spectacular Chorrillo del Salto before returning to the village.

Option 2: Trekking the Fitz Roy trail.
Snow permitting, this second option is available from September to April. This excursion is self-guided and is ideal for a unique experience in the mountains.
You will hike part of the Fitz Roy trail in the direction of Laguna Capri. Once you arrive, you can stop for lunch and enjoy the beaches. You will walk about 8 kilometers round trip through a path without detours.

Return to El Calafate
Once the tour is over, you will meet up with the rest of the group to begin the return trip to El Calafate. El Chaltén Full Day will have come to an end, but you will still be able to enjoy the Argentine landscape on the way back. You will arrive at approximately 08:00 P.M. at your hotel.
