This tour combines a boat ride on Lake Argentino with short walks. There are three landings, in the first one you will walk 700 meters to see the Andean Patagonian Forest, in the second landing you will walk 1000 meters to the base of the Black Glacier. Finally, the third landing is at the Perito Moreno footbridges, the best place to appreciate the iconic Perito Moreno Glacier.

🚐 Pick up in El Calafate is from the main hotels, if you are staying in other types of accommodation, you will be directed to a nearby pick up point.

Tour itinerary
Mayo Spirit Trek from El Calafate
Pick up in El Calafate
If you select the option with pick up, at 8:00 a.m. you will be picked up in El Calafate to travel the 50 km to Punta Bandera port, from where the ship leaves at 9:30 a.m. If you select the option without pick up, you will have to go directly to Punta Bandera port at 9:00 am.
Toro Bay
The first stop will be at "Bahía Toro". You will hike 700 meters through the Andean Patagonian Forest while the guide explains the peculiarities of this ecosystem.
Calcareous waterfall and glaciers views
The route continues until you reach a waterfall with an interesting formation of limestone rocks, and then follow the path along the stream that forms the waterfall until you reach the shore of the lake, from where you can see the hanging glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro.
Cerro Negro
Will embark again to navigate for 15 minutes to reach Cerro Negro. Upon disembarking, you will hike 1,000 meters to the base of Cerro Negro, where you will be able to see the Cerro Negro glacier up close. The hanging glacier forms a network of waterfalls that create a river, along which you walk back to the boat.
Perito Moreno Glacier
The boat will navigate in front of the north wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier, in order to appreciate it from up close. Afterwards, we disembark at the glacier's footbridges, where the group has free time to walk around them. Finally, a last boat trip is made to return to Punta Bandera port.
If you have selected the option with transfers, we will be waiting to take you back to El Calafate, where you will arrive around 6 pm. If you have selected the option without transfers, the tour ends at Punta Bandera port at approximately 5 pm.

Where does the tour Boat tour Mayo Spirit Trek start
The city of El Calafate is located 3,000 km from Buenos Aires, and 325 km from the city of Río Gallegos, capital of the province of Santa Cruz. The airport has direct daily connections with Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Bariloche, Trelew, Cordoba and Rosario. Several airlines operate this route, being Aerolineas Argentinas the most frequent one. From Howlanders we also recommend you to check LADE airline.
If you want to arrive by land you can do it by bus. The trip between Buenos Aires and El Calafate takes about 36 hours. From Río Gallegos, the trip takes 4 hours. If you come from Puerto Natales we recommend you to take a bus that arrives to El Calafate in about five hours or hire a private service with us. Finally, if you are traveling from Ushuaia, please check the waiting times due to the crossing of the Strait of Magellan or stopover in Rio Gallegos.
