During the Ushuaia off road lakes one day tour we will travel in a 4x4 vehicle through the most hidden and incredible places of Tierra del Fuego and its parks.

We will pick you up at your accommodation in Ushuaia at the scheduled time and we will drive through glacial valleys and sawmill trails that conventional vehicles cannot access. Thanks to these modern vehicles we will also be able to cross rivers and beaches in the middle of nature. Therefore, it is a unique experience where you will also enjoy the wildlife and mountain views.

LAKES OF ROAD USHUAIA IN 4X4

Pick up in Ushuaia - Andes Fueguinos

We will pick you up at your accommodation in Ushuaia between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning and after a short drive we will cross an imposing glacier valley, arriving at the Garibaldi Pass, the only road that crosses the Fuegian Andes.

Hidden valley landscape between mountains and highway

Escondido Lake

From the top of the Cordillera we will have spectacular views of the beautiful Lago Escondido, a small wonder that will later be traveled from south to north along route 3.

This lake of glacial origin gets its name from its location, as it is literally hidden in a deep valley in the heart of the mountains.

Lake Fagnano

We will continue by road to the northern part of Lake Escondido, where we will leave the asphalt and enter the roads that used to lead to a sawmill. These trails, which are only passable by our 4x4 vehicles, lead to Lake Fagnano.

Rest and lunch

After enjoying the forest and its landscapes we will arrive at the refuge around 13:30 where, while a tasty Creole meal is prepared for us, we will have time to walk around, rest and breathe fresh air. It will also be the perfect time to meet other travelers and enjoy their company.

Transfer back to Ushuaia

After the delicious lunch we will return to the 4x4 and head back to Ushuaia, but not before continuing to enjoy the roads and the incredible route that will offer us a landscape to which very few have access. We will also have the opportunity to see the cuts that the sharp teeth of the beavers make in the trees, to build dams and nests for their family. An adventure in the middle of nature through truly impressive landscapes.

Around 17:00 we will be back in Ushuaia where we will leave you back at your accommodation to rest after this adventure.

What to bring to Lakes off road 4x4 tour

During the months of December to February, when Ushuaia is in summer, you will find a cool and humid environment, with temperatures that vary between 10°C and 14°C (50°F and 59°F). It is worth mentioning that, during this season, there are many hours of sunlight, which allows you to enjoy outdoor activities, unlike the rest of the year.

  • By Land: The main national route to get there is the number from Rio Gallegos (Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina and you can also get to Ushuaia from Punta Arenas, Chile (in the Continent) to Porvenir (in the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego) -duration of 2.30 hours.

    No, this activity is strictly prepared to be safe. Therefore, the vehicles used are 4x4 specially prepared for mountainous terrain with slopes and mud.

  • What is included in the meal?

    The menu consists of chorizo sandwich, chorizo steaks with salads and dessert. Non-alcoholic beverages are also included. In case of vegetarian/vegan menu please advise in advance.

  • Do I have to wear special footwear?

    Yes, given the terrain we will be passing through, we recommend that you wear closed-toe hiking shoes with non-slip soles because although we spend most of the tour in the 4x4 vehicles, we will be stopping in a mountainous area.
