  • Passport
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Warm clothing

  • Refillable water bottle
  • Raincoat
  • Swimwear and towel (for the thermal waters of Aguas Calientes)
  • Medication to avoid altitude sickness (in case you consider it necessary)

Where does the tour Machu Picchu in one day start

Cusco is the main tourist city of Peru and is very well connected. If you plan to arrive from Lima, you can get to Cusco by bus (24 hour trip) or take a one hour flight. You can choose between low cost airlines like Peruvian Airlines, LCP or StarPeru or full-service airlines like Latam and Avian. If you plan to arrive from Arequipa, the bus ride to Cusco will take roughly ten hours. Alternatively you can also arrive by plane, in this case, however, the only airline that offers direct flights is Latam Airlines. If you plan to arrive from Puno, the best option is to take a bus on a six hour trip. We also offer the possibility to take a tourist bus route that stops in the most important places and landmarks along the way, leaving Puno at 7:00 AM and arriving at Cusco at 5:30 PM.

Excellent guide in Machu Picchu. I recommend Ulisses highly for his professionalism, knowledge and good humor. Everthing was great except for the time we had to wait at Aguas Calientes by our arrival. Our visit to Machu Picchu was scheduled for 8 am and for some reason was postpone to 10 am. Very tiring... Otherwise, perfect.

The whole day was extremely well organised. Howlanders were excellent with keeping myself and the other participants up to speed with all information and a briefing prior to the tour. The day of the tour run like clockwork and all guides were extremely knowledgeable. The drivers were on time and prompt. I would highly recommend.

I can say that this was indeed an experience of a lifetime. There were no problems at all. I can say that every one involved were utterly professional and was very helpful. The tour itself was good and complete. I can surely say it was awesome.

The tour was easy to book. Two days before I arrived I was contacted by the agent in Cusco and we had our tickets. The transport was very comfortable and punctual. We had a little problem with the train on the way back, but the agent responded to my what’s app message and agreed to look into the problem for me. Very happy with the whole service and would use them again.

What is the best time to travel to Machu Picchu?
Any time of the year is good for traveling to Machu Picchu, but the best time is between June and September to avoid the rain.

Has this tour ever been canceled in the rainy season?
No, we have never canceled this tour because the roads you pass through to get to Machu Picchu are safe. During the rainy season, we recommend you book with the extra Vistadome train to avoid delays (due to rain) and enjoy the scenery better.

When to book the tour?
During Easter and the months of June to September is high season. In order to ensure good train schedules it is advisable to book more than one month in advance.

What's the difference between trains?
There are two companies that operate the route between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town): Inca Rail and Peru Rail. Their trains are touristic, since they run at low speed to be able to appreciate the landscape during the one and a half hour journey. They mainly offer 2 categories. The standard category, called Expedition or Voayager and the higher category called 360 or Vistadome.
