DAY 1 Iquitos - Iquitos rainforest

Pick up in Iquitos

Your guide will meet you at the Iquitos airport or at your hotel in the city. From there, you’ll head to the local agency office, located in the heart of Iquitos, to begin your Amazon experience.

Transfer to the Lodge

You’ll then take a short drive to the port of Iquitos, where you'll board a speedboat that departs at 9:30 AM. The journey will take you directly to your lodge in the Yanamono Communal Reserve. This marks the official start of your adventure in one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, where the Amazon rainforest awaits to surprise you at every turn.

Monkey Island

During the boat ride, you’ll have the chance to witness the famous "Wedding of the Rivers", where the Nanay River meets the majestic Amazon in a spectacular natural display. Before reaching the lodge, you’ll stop at Monkey Island, a conservation area dedicated to protecting endangered monkey species native to the Amazon.

Check-in at the lodge

After the visit, the boat ride continues to the lodge, where you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing drink made from local exotic fruits. Check-in takes place at 1:00 PM, when you'll be shown to your room. Shortly after, you’ll head to the dining area to enjoy your first Amazonian lunch, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the jungle.

Iquitos Jungle Walk

In the afternoon, you’ll venture into the Amazon rainforest on a guided hike of approximately two hours. With your local guide, you’ll explore the region’s extraordinary biodiversity, identifying a wide variety of plant and animal species. You may spot birds like the Turkey Vulture or the Black-fronted Nunbird, as well as small groups of monkeys in their natural habitat.

Free time at the Lodge

After the hike, you’ll return to the lodge to enjoy some well-deserved rest. You can relax in the hammocks overlooking the Amazon, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or unwind in your room—perhaps reading from the comfort of your hammock, surrounded by the sounds and calm of the jungle.

DAY 2 Iquitos jungle

Amazon Bird watching

The second day of the Amazon Iquitos Tour will begin early in the morning with a guided bird watching excursion led by a local expert. During the outing, you’ll have the chance to observe a variety of species, including the Tuki (Jacana jacana), the Ringed Kingfisher (Ceryle torquata), and the Black-collared Hawk (Busarellus nigricollis), among many others.

After this peaceful start to the day, you’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a hearty breakfast surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle.

Yaguas Community

After breakfast, you’ll visit the Yaguas community, where you’ll learn about their culture, customs, and ancestral traditions. You’ll also have the chance to try the pucuna (blowgun), a traditional hunting tool used for generations in the Amazon.

At the end of the visit, you’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a typical Amazonian lunch and take some time to relax before the afternoon activities.

In the afternoon, accompanied by your local guide, you’ll embark on an artisanal fishing expedition along one of the Amazon River’s tributaries. You’ll learn traditional fishing techniques, including how to catch piranhas — a classic activity in the region. DAY 3 Iquitos jungle - Iquitos

Yanamono Island - Victoria Regia

After breakfast, you’ll board a boat bound for a tranquil lake on Yanamono Island, where you’ll have the chance to admire the majestic Victoria Regia, known as the queen of the water lilies. Its impressive size and delicate beauty make it one of the most iconic natural spectacles of the Amazon.

Lunch at the lodge and return to Iquitos.

You’ll return to the lodge to enjoy your final Amazonian lunch and get your luggage ready for departure. Check-out is at 12:00 PM, so you’ll need to vacate your room before lunch.

At 1:30 PM, you’ll begin your return journey to Iquitos by speedboat, accompanied by your guide. Arrival in the city is scheduled for around 4:00 PM. Once there, you can choose to be dropped off either at your hotel in the city or at the airport, depending on your flight itinerary.

  • The tour ends in Iquitos, either at your accommodation or at the airport. The return boat departs the lodge at 1:30 PM on the final day.
  • We recommend booking a departure flight no earlier than 5:30 PM, to allow enough time for the boat transfer and airport check-in.

    We recommend flying with LATAM or SKY on the Lima–Iquitos route, with arrival before 9:00 AM, and choosing a LATAM return flight from Iquitos departing after 5:30 PM.

    If your flight itinerary doesn’t match these times, feel free to contact us — we’ll be happy to help you find a customized solution.

  • What happens if my flight to Iquitos arrives after 9:00 AM?

    f your flight arrives after 9:00 AM and you are unable to take the scheduled 9:30 AM boat (included in the tour), there is one exception: an alternative boat departure is available for those arriving on the 10:40 AM flight from Cusco.

    After that time, it is only possible to arrange a boat transfer until 3:00 PM, and this service comes at an additional cost. Please contact us for more details and availability.

  • What happens if my return flight leaves Iquitos before 5:30 PM?

    The return boat from the lodge departs at 1:30 PM, and arrival in Iquitos is scheduled around 4:00 PM. For this reason, it’s not possible to catch a flight before 5:30 PM unless you arrange a special transfer.

    If your return flight is earlier, a private boat transfer will be required at an additional cost. Please contact us in advance to coordinate this option.

    The Peruvian Amazon can be visited all year round. However, it is useful to know that from December to May is the rainy season, which offers completely green landscapes and access to floodable areas.

    Yes, for logistical reasons, the limit is 10 kg (22 lbs) per person. If you are traveling with more luggage, you can store the excess safely in our office in Iquitos and bring only the essentials to the lodge.
