Très bonne expérience avec Howlanders et l'équipe locale. Communication simple et facilité par whatsapp et par e-mail.
Les chauffeurs qui nous accompagné pendant ces 4 jours étaient top: Sandy et son acolyte Miguelito et Mike.

Très bon voyage, mais avec une remarque importante: nous étions 7 passagers venant de pays français et anglophone, ne parlant pratiquement pas la langue espagnole. Il est très dommage, compte tenu de la provenance des clients, de nous avoir proposé un guide ne parlant pas anglais, même s’il était très sympathique.

Tour outstanding. Driver (Renee) excellent. Driver provided fuel generally of good quality but evening meals in hostels of poor quality and for the most part cold and unappetising. Whilst not expecting European Hotel standards the hostels in Villa Mar were of very low standard

The trip was brilliant.  Our guide, Hose was wonderful.

Acho que os serviços da agência local contratada poderiam ser melhores. Refeições melhores, instruções melhores e, principalmente, hospedagens melhores. Não devíamos ser obrigados a ficar em hostel no primeiro e terceiro dias. O local é péssimo, peguei pulgas lá. Um horror. 
Uma outra coisa importante, a empresa local precisa ter um protocolo de procedimento quando alguém passa mal. Uma pessoa do meu grupo teve mal de altitude e a empresa nada quis fazer. Se o grupo não se mobilizasse, poderia ter ocorrido o pior. É pra completar isso acabou com o primeiro dia de viagem,  atrasou tudo e se eu não brigo para termos a reposição dos passeios perdidos, ficaríamos sem ver tudo que paguei. 
Enfim. Lugares lindos, mas Falta um pouco de profissionalismo por parte da empresa local.

Eine großartige, aber auch sehr anstrengende Reise. Unser Fahrer Ariel hat einen tollen Job gemacht. Wir würden die Tour weiterfmpfehlen. Die Agentur sollte den Fahrern nur zwischendurch Pausen gönnen. Einige waren ziemlich fertig.

El guía del tour, Marcelo, muy bueno. Lo peor fue la vuelta, despacharon el desayuno con un café y galletas y tanto el conductor como el guía que nos llevaron a la frontera nos parecieron mejorables, pero al menos fue ya solo para llevarnos a la frontera.

Excelente servicio, todo muy bien organizado. Les hostales son buenos, la comida muy rica y los paysajes increibles! Este tour en grupo nos permitio conocer a genres de otras nationalidades, muy buenos recuerdos.

Toda a experiência foi muito boa. Tive um bom suporte online antes de viajar para trocar o dia da minha viagem (com uns 5 a 6 dias de antecedência), e tudo ocorreu muito tranquilamente e de forma simples. Do motorista chileno que nos levou à fronteira da Bolívia, à agência boliviano que nos levou no Tour, foram todos muito prestativos e respeitosos. O guia boliviano (Ariel) foi genial, e tirou várias fotos legais, conversou bastante e nos deu uma boa noção dos costumes locais. 

Somente nas acomodações de Villarmar tivemos hotel com chuveiro sem aquecimento na ida, e falta de internet na volta. Mas isso foi um detalhe.

Fue increíble! Especialmente con Ariel como conductor! Nos ha explicado todo sobre los lugares ha hecho chistes y nos ha ayudado si alguien tenía dolores a causa de la altura.
La comida fuemuy rica también! Especialmente las panqueques para el desayuno!
Los lugares que hemos visto fueron muy lindos y nunca hubiera pensado que el desierto podría tener tanta variedad!

The experience was incredible! We all loved it. The driver was also very nice, taught us a lot and answered all our questions. We never waited too long or were in too much of a hurry, the timing was perfect most of the time. The tour is very complete and condensed. The only negative points noted were for us (1) the quantity of food served which was not sufficient most of the time, especially at breakfast, and (2) they did not respect to the letter the formulas paid by people (between the different rooms). Despite these two small negative points, I would 100% recommend this tour, which was really great and very affordable in terms of price compared with other tours. Thank you very much!

Great tour! Highly recommend!! One thing though: instead of booking the tour here on Howlanders, book it directly with the operator: "Estrella del Sur" (Chile) or "Tambo Loma" (Bolivia). You will get the tour cheaper :)
P.s.: avoid eating the food outside of what the tour operator offers - risk of food poisoning...
Also be ready for high altitude, especially the first day where you reach nearly 5000m! It's recommended to stay a few days earlier in San Pedro which is already at 2500m to acclimate properly.

We had a great time exploring Salar de Uyuni and it‘s surrounding attractions. Howlanders connected us to the best local agency: Estrella del Sur. They would have also been the ones recommended by our hostel. Our driver Sandy was able to share some information about things here and there and did a really good job driving on the bumpy roads. The food was very nice in all the places we stayed and the accommodation was good overall. Although the outside temperatures (in September) were below zero celsius we never were too cold to sleep.  The last day back from Uyuni to San Pedro is a bit of a driving marathon but that can‘t really be changed.

It's really an experience to live! The landscapes are breathtaking, especially the sunrise of the Salar D'Uyuni. The hotels were good, very basic but comfortable. No one in the group was sick with the food (we avoided eggs and everything that is not cooked) Our guide was very friendly. I really recommend!

Extraordinaire. Tant pour les paysages que pour les rencontres; une sensation de liberté retrouvée et de communion avec la nature. Cela s est révélé être une vraie aventure pour le quinqua que je suis: bien prévoir son équipement (il faisait froid en août) et accepter une réelle rusticité.

Was a bit anxious before taking on this tour because I was worried about issues crossing the border - but no problems in the end, just reach out to the agency if you have any doubts.

Overall an adventure of a lifetime! We went into this tour only with expectations for the Uyuni salt flats (which was as beautiful as we imagined it to be) but in the end the journey there was spectacular within itself; unreal scenery throughout the entire trip.

Be prepared for a severe lack of connection as this is something we were not too prepared for. We were only able to connect to the internet for a couple of hours on the second day, and then at our hotel in Uyuni. There was no connection at Villa del Mar.

Overall, an incredible experience which I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique adventure.

Jusqu’à Uyuni tout était parfait. Une fois qu’on repart de Uyuni changement de voiture beaucoup plus de gens dans la voiture. Hotel a Villamar qui réduit la nourriture au minimum. Départ à 5h du matin le lendemain pour revenir à 10h à San Pedro de Atacama alors qu’il n’y a rien à faire en arrivant à 10h. Vraiment dommage ce manque d’attention à la fin.

Overall we had a good experience, but all our group got food poisoned which made the come back trip a real nightmare. Agencies should be more careful on food preparation to avoid such things. In some hostels hot water was not truly available.

It is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime worth experience as you will see places you have never dreamt of. The landscape is breathtaking; however, you need to be aware that you spend long hours traveling in a 4x4. Avoid the back seats at any cost unless you're short, as there's no room for legs at all. In my opinion, those seats should not be sold at all, as otherwise, you are traveling in discomfort. The accommodation, as advertised, is very basic, except for the night in the salt hotel. We had a very good driver  Renne who was looking out for us and making sure we felt comfortable.Be aware that you spent most of the time at high altitude, and this can take a toll on your well-being. Fifty percent of the people in our group got sick at some point during the trip. Take some pills with you just in case, as you will be literally in the middle of nowhere with no pharmacies around. Was it worth it? Definitely yes! Would I do it again? Probably not, as it took me a few days to recover.

Très bon chauffeur en Bolivie (Rolando Flores) qui a été très serviable, présent quand nous en avions besoin, a l’écoute et qui souhaitait nous faire découvrir le pays du mieux possible afin d’avoir la meilleure expérience possible. Malheureusement nous avons été malades mais il a tout fait pour que tout se passe pour le mieux. Nous le recommandons !

El tour ha estado muy bien, muy buena comunicación y aunque tuvimos un problema de cambio de fechas por el censo de Bolivia,  lo solucionaron de muy buena manera. La agencia local muy competente y el conductor que nos tocó, Ramiro, encantador y muy buen conductor. 
Hay cosas que creo que se podrían pulir, puesto que te cobran para usar el baño del sitio donde estás comiendo y el wifi del primer alojamiento, pero en general está todo muy bien organizado, los alojamientos y la comida están bastante bien  y sin duda lo recomendaría.

Good, but the guide did not even speak 1 word English and did not respect his own time indications. Telling us to be outside at 4 o'clock in the morning and coming out himself at 4.15. We found that respectless. It happened all the time, again and again. 
During driving he was cleaning his ears and scrabbing pickels in his face. We found that very unhygienic, especially because after that he prepared breakfast without washing his hands. I hope you understand this point of view.
He had poor comunication, for example he doesn't say before where we go and how long it takes and if we find toilets there. 
In the beginning he did not present himself, so we don't know his name. I asked him, but did not understand what he said. He was not realy interested. Yes, he didctell where we were when we stopped and what we could see there. But he seemed a computer, not an involved guide.
It is the second time we do this trip, but 4 years ago we had another, better guide, much more interested in having a contact with us, trying to make himself clear and trying to be a guide and not only a driver. This guy was a very good driver, but a bad guide. His indications were poor. Actually he was not a guide, just a driver. If he told something, he just began speaking in Spanish, without turning his face towards the clients or speaking slowly. We were all not Spanish, so he could have used a few basic words in Emglish or have tried to speak clearly and slowly. Afterwards he could have asked 'did you understand'?
Our trip was a 4 day (3 nights) trip from March 15 until March 18 booking (hln-65417).

The scenery of the Bolivian high desert is absolutely unbelievable and otherworldly and this trip was totally worth it for us. However I do want to make it clear to other travellers the experience you’re going to get: there was no hot water the entire trip, I didn’t shower (lol) due to freezing cold temperatures in the desert. The food is also questionable, especially cleanliness in preparation.. There’s no soap pretty much anywhere in public restrooms (which you must pay for everywhere except the hostels - 2-5 bolivianos) The journey is extremely long and gruelling with very early wakeups (I’m talking 4-6am departures). The drivers don’t speak English so you should have passable Spanish or hope that you get a Spanish speaker in your jeep. Now, that being said, if you are cool with all of that, it’s totally worth the amazing once in a lifetime experience. You can shower when you get back ;) and you can use this opportunity to improve your Spanish.

This was an amazing trip which lived up to - and in some areas exceeded - all expectations. All stops provided something exciting and worth seeing, not just the salt flats.
Our driver, Isidro, was courteous and looked after us well, even when a small incident requiring medical intervention occurred. We felt safe in his car at all times. We possibly lucked out as his was one of the newest and most comfortable in the wider group - I'm not sure all are so nice. Indeed the car which returned us to Chile was older with a cracked windscreen and broken seatbelt hence the 1 star deducted.
The accommodations are basic, but met the descriptions provided in the tour outline. They were actually much warmer than we thought they would be. There was a good amount of food provided.
For the most part everything ran like clockwork, all tour agencies, drivers and guides were clear with instructions. The only thing to highlight is if you are taking the tour which returns to San Pedro, keep your national park ticket with you for the return journey. This was not made clear to all members in our group and they had to pay again.
The tour was generally well paced and we got so much out of our 3 days.

It was excellent. Very well organized, visited many places with good guide, spent a lot of time at uyuni and saw perfect mirror.

Great uyuni tour, lovely local tour operator! Just 4/5 stars because 5 out of 8 people got food poisoning… Howlander should educate there local partners about food safety and give recommendations to there customers about what food is reheated on their tours. (Tip: stay away from the rice and chicken)

Excellent outdoor adventure. Jeep tour with hotel room is the best way to enjoy southern Bolivia. Excellent Driver/Guide Carlos and great customer service. Highly recommend.

Biggest complaint is waiting almost 3 hours in Uyuni for transfer to Villa del Mar at the and of the tour. Tomba Loma handled this very badly, assigning the car we notified on Bolivian form 250 to another group whom arrived at their office later than us.
The tour itself is great, but you should bemore honest about start times (04:00, not 05:00) and advise that all toilet stops require Bolivares

The tour itself was amazing and our guide (only Spanish speaking) did a great job! There was some confusion about not being picked up because we stayed out of town, and then the morning we were getting ready to get to the office ourselves we got a call that the driver was gonna pick us up. In my opinion everyone just should be picked up or at least dont make this a confusing proces. 

It's a lot of early days and the altitude is heavy, so be prepared for that. Also, most people in our group (including us) got sick with norovirus. We heard later this is very common for tourists in Bolivia, because they don't take hygiene too seriously. So be careful out there with food and maybe take some medication with you just in case. A clever business model though, because at almost every toilet they charge around a dollar...so with a lot of people rushing for the toilet its a great moneymaker 😂

Overal the tour was amazing and I loved the amazing landscape Bolivia has to offer. Really recommend going, just be prepared!

It was a great trip, from the pick up at the accommodation to the drop off, everything was well organized. We were extremely lucky with the weather, the guide Jose was friendly and knowledgeable and all travelers got along well. Definitely an experience not to be missed!

Accommodations were nice considering they are in the middle of nowhere. The scenery is breath taking. Worth the trip, it was an amazing experience!

This is an incredible tour with lots so see and do. The salt flats and la laguna colorada were highlights. The food and accommodation were good. If you are going in the winter months, take warm clothes, especially for your feet! The vehicles were comfortable. The drivers were super friendly and informative. The whole trip is at very high altitude, so be prepared to feel a the symptoms of altitude sickness. The summer months are probably the best time to go to avoid the cold. I would highly recommend this trip!

We had an amazing time. The tourguide however spoke no English, which made it very difficult to understand. Never the less, the experience was awesome! Bolivia is so very beautiful!

This tour was simply amazing. The driver/tour guide Raul was really professional, helpful, and friendly. As a driver, he was experienced, cautious, and drove smoothly.
The Brazilian tourists with whom we shared the car also contributed significantly to the experience, and I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but putting all of us together was a great idea. 
The only drawback we experienced was that my husband had a hard time with soroche. On the 3rd night, he even had to go to a local clinic in VillaMar to receive oxygen and take some medicine. The good point of it was that the second driver Marcelo was really attentive and drove us to the clinic (even paid the bill in BOB at the clinic and the clinic didn't accept credit cards- at that time we didn't have enough BOB money- and later we paid him back in Chilean currency) 
He also provided us with an oxygen cylinder so that the trip back to Atacama could be smoother.  We were really grateful for Raul and Marcelo whose professionalism and charisma made our experience with a very positive balance.
Maybe the only note to future improvements would be to improve the showers at the hostel in Villamar. The host there was really attentive and helpful as well, and I loved the treatment and food. The only drawback was indeed the shower, once we booked a private room with a private bathroom, but in order to have hot water, the flow was really low at the electric shower. Although I also understand the challenges inherent to a desert area.

The tour was fantastic. We chose the 3 night 4 day tour from Atacama. We got so much value for the price, as the meals were great and the scenery was incredible. The lodging was surprisingly nice for the location, as we were very remote the whole time. The only two issues we had were lack of service/wifi and it was colder than we expected. This wasn't a huge deal, but definitely bring layers no matter the time of year, there are a lot of early mornings and late nights when the sun is down. Our tour guide, Rene, was informative and made us feel safe throughout the tour. I would highly recommend this tour. I felt that the value was incredible for the price.

Although the high altitude, dry air and some difficulties breathing, it was so far the best experience I’ve had in a while. 
The driver was very nice and knowledgeable throughout the trip. The food provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner was also nice. I would just suggest better toilet and shower facilities for the Villa Mar hostel.

The tour itself was fantastic, what an amazing part of the world. The first and last are long days but the tour notes mentioned that point. Just enough stops of different things to make it varied and interesting. Our driver / tour guide Marvin really made the trip - enthusiastic, personable and committed to our safety - so firm about instructions when he needed to be. The downsides  of the tour - no water when we arrived at the salt hotel (major issue for toilet and showers) and the Chilean border deciding to close on our a return. A 7 1/2 hour wait with no facilities and whatever you brought at 4800m was not the best experience - but obvs out of control of the tour company. I will say when planning, the company strongly advised not to book a flight the same day as the return because ‘delays can happen’, so in that respect well done to the staff for giving the right advice, otherwise I would have missed my flight (even though it was at 7pm and seemed unlikely when booking).

I had 4 amazing days. Such amazing landscape. The Driver Felix was awesome, i felt really save. He knew what he was doing and had good ideas about making photos in the salt lake.
The Food and acommodation was also good.

El tour fue muy bueno y todo super puntual. El alojamiento de la 1er y 3er noche era muy bueno en su comida, y abrigo en la cama. (Mi cama en la 3er no era cómoda). Los baños no eran Buenos, la puertas no cerraban, eran con vidrio fantasia (o sea se veia la silueta dentro) y El espejo era pequeñisimo (apenas mas grande que los de cartera). La comida de ultimo dia malisima. Todas las restantes comidas muy buenas. Son solo pequeños detalles. Igual recomiendo El tour con ésta empresa.

Excellent travel agent, Cruz Andina Travel. Enjoyed everything on tour, itinerary, vehicle, upgraded hostels and included meals. The Bolivia visa application support was good. The agent in San Pedro de Atacama patiently checked through our documents to ensure everything was in order, a day before our departure date. Not forgetting our driver guide who drove untiringly for 3.5 days. His little English went a long way. A fabulous trip indeed!!

Tour was amazing but also exhausting. 
Carlos, our driver, was super calm, friendly and knew everything he was asked about different parts of the desert. He even let us be the DJ in his car. 
The stops of the tour are spectacular and everything is very well organized.
The hostels were okay, but not high-comfort. The salt hotel was perfect but ran out of water during our stay.   

The tour was fine but I got extremely sick with food poisoning at the very end. Still am dealing with the consequences.

Howlanders also was very vague about what I would need for the border crossing. I had to scramble at the last minute to get the things I needed — many of which were not listed in their email when I booked. This could’ve saved me the time and stress.

4 days Tour Uyuni and back to San Pedeo
First 2.5 days were great! The sights are amazing and our driver René was very nice and helpful. He went out of his way for great pics on the Salar de Uyuni. Super ambiance in the car, which was comfortable. Hotels and food were very basic but clean/tasty+plenty.
"Fun" started when the company had forgotten to transmit the info that we had booked the way back to San Pedro de Atacama. We had payed for private rooms but had to heavily "discuss" with the hotel in Villa Mar to even get a room. Driver kept running little errands (delivering mail etc), which prolonged the time in the car. Last breakfast consisted of stale bread and scrambled eggs, no coffee/jam.
"Best" was the hand-over at the Bolivian border. As soon as the car was parked we were greated by an unknown man, who didn't care to present himself but started shouting at us that we had to hand over our passports to him. We refused to just give them to a stranger, plus knowing the border crossing procedure. He got very cross and continued shouting at us. My partner went queuing in an attempt to soothe him and I stayed for our luggage to be handed over from the car's roof. The man continued shouting and started pushing me. Meanwhile, our backpacks were thrown from the car onto the tiniest person in our group, who was not able to catch them properly.
Overall, a very nice trip to Uyuni. The trip back left a bitter aftertaste...

Elegí esta empresa porque se veía súper profesional. Tenía una página web muy bien organizada y con todo el detalle de la información del viaje. Aunque era más cara que las demás opciones, decidí escogerla justamente porque pensé que el servicio haría la diferencia.

Cuál fue mi sorpresa cuando al llegar a San Pedro, todos los turistas estaban recibiendo el mismo trato, la misma comida, los mismos alojamientos… ¡Todo igual para todos!

Mientras yo había pagado $345 por lo que estaba recibiendo, los demás habían pagado $100… Y recibiendo EXACTAMENTE lo mismo.

Los conductores NO hablan inglés y tuve que ser la traductora de TODO el viaje. Lo que me dejó absolutamente agotada (para todo me necesitaban una y otra vez).

La verdad es que me quedé muy sorprendida de que la empresa Howlanders solo existe para cobrar, pero luego todos los tours y coordinaciones se hacen directamente con las empresas locales: que son IGUALES para todos.

Entonces, ¿por qué pagar casi 3-4 veces más?

Me dio mucha pena, la verdad. Esperaba un servicio diferenciado, algo más profesional que el resto. Pero eso no ocurrió.

Y aunque nuestro guía en el tour fue muy amable y atento, no solo no hablaba inglés, sino que no tenía idea de cómo tomar las fotos con efectos en el salar, lo cual era lo que más esperábamos.

Al final, nos tuvimos que regresar con unas fotos (bastante patéticas) y con la sensación de que se podría haber hecho mucho mejor.

En fin, recomiendo contratar los tours directamente con las agencias de San Pedro. No hay absolutamente ninguna diferencia, ya que todos lo hacen igual. Y preguntar por un conductor que tenga algo de experiencia con más fotos y hable algo de inglés.

Really nice 4 days. We saw SO many things in the 4 days! It was nice to have everything planned/organized and just hop in the SUV each day. Guide was nice and also a safe driver. Bolivia is such a beautiful country and I'm happy to have seen more than just the salt flats!
The only improvement I would say has to do with the food. There was a vegan and a vegetarian in my group and that seemed to be a complicated thing at each stop we went to. Those should be standard dietary requests that each place should be able to accommodate. 
Tip: bring a solar powered charger in case the power in the area goes out!

The tour involves many interconnected agencies providing different services (booking/customer service/transport/lodging/food/...). They work seamlessly together.
The tour is unforgettable and definitely worth the price. The Incahaus/Cactus Island is of exceptional beauty. It may be declared 'closed'  (not necessarily with visible reasons) but it is at a discretion of the driver  to visit it or not..  It is worthwhile to let the driver know your interest..  
Based on the reviews I was concerned with unheated accommodations.. In mid-February  it was not a problem at all. Food is quite good..  A major fraction of the time is spent in a car.. Some cars are going much faster then others, thus reducing this time.. Not clear if there is a way of a choice, though. Based  on the statistics of one trip: spanish-speaking drivers are quite capable in interacting/guiding the english-speaking customers and provide a lot of very interesting and valuable information on very wide selection of subjects. One way trip, Uyuni to San Pedro or vice-versa is probably a better use if time, if a choice is possible, saving one long drive with relatively little interest.

Grandioze organisatie via 'Cruz Andina'.  Alles was perfect : comfortabele jeeps, super-vriendelijke chauffeur met goede kennis en rijvaardigheid.  Steeds lekker eten, fijne kennismaking met de Boliviaanse bevolking en cultuur, en als surplus prachtige natuur !

The places we visited were very nice. The main problem with this trip is the  high altitude which you didn't emphasized at all in your trip itinerary and details. We elevated in 40 min from 2400m in San Pedro to 4600m at the border. The first day we reached 4900m at the geysers and slept in Vila Mar 4050m. Such an elevation in such a short time is very dangerous and caused to all the group high altitude symptoms.
Two of us had altitude sickness. The company didn't supply any oxygen in the car or any explanation about high altitude which is a must!!! You should write under IMPORTANT that this trip is on high altitude most of the time between 4000-4500m. Traveler must be aware of it and prepare for it. You are very irresponsible not doing it. It's not enough to write only on your "what to bring" list to bring high altitude medicine. When we visited the local company and asked about the altitude we where told it's nothing only 3200m. 
I suffered all the trip of altitude sickness, very hard headaches, nausea, dizziness and trouble sleeping at night. 
Maybe you were lucky that till today hopefully no one got really sick but you as a company are playing  with fire and a person might even die!!!
I spent a lot of time in high altitude, I know how to deal with high altitude but this time I was scared.
I owed till the covid a tour company and always emphasized  the high altitude if needed. On itineraries always wrote the heights of the high altitude places we visited and gave instructions and warnings ahead.
We visited the moon valley in the Atacama which is about 2400m and the guide talked us about high altitude problems at least twice!!!
High altitude is very dangerous and very tricky and you are sending people to a very high and remote place, with no warning at all.

I had high expectations for the tour after reading other people’s comments and in reality, the tour was even more awesome than I had expected. Our Bolivian guide Marvin was very kind, knowledgeable and fun. He made sure our group got the most out of the incredible surrounding nature. Me and my partner were given a double room during all 3 nights even though we booked the shared option. Also all the meals were super tasty. So we are definitely highly recommending the tour to everyone!

What we seen was out of this world, but there was a lot of room for improvement in the experience, namely the stays. "hotels" either did not have hot water or when they said they had it was cold. The door of the room (Tambo lama) did not even close. The rooms did not even have a chair or any place to put your things. Food was OK. Driver was very nice. The trip had too many hours in the car and we had to wake up at 3:30 and 5:30, and drive during the night. It was a very tiring experience. But what we have seen was beautiful.

Walter es el mejor guía que he tenido en la vida, nos llevo a lugares increíbles siempre muy atento y servicial a todo, buscando opciones para que la pasáramos de lo mejor, es una persona increíble que ama su país y nos hizo amarlo igual, voy a recomendar mucho esta experiencia y sobretodo a Walter 

Overall, I would totally recommend this tour! It is a great value for money.

Pros:
- starting with the booking process, the communication with howlanders and the involved local agencies was always excellent 
- they met my dietary choices (vegan), which many other agencies wouldn’t do (I contacted many beforehand). However, please note that if you have a restriction, bring some additional food with you, as it still was very basic (often times there was no source of protein, so bring some canned beans/chickpeas, peanut butter, crackers, avocados, powdered vegetable milk, oats…). You will thank me later, especially the breakfast with a food restriction is VERY basic. 
- after having read many stories about drunk drivers etc I was really scared in the beginning - but our two drivers (Ariel to the way to Uyuni and Crispan for the way back to San Pedro) made us feel 100% safe at all times! Truly appreciated this
- THE SCENCERY! It is a bumpy ride, and not an easy journey, but the scenery is absolutely breathtaking (and not just because of the altitude). From the first minute that you will cross the Bolivian border you will be absolutely taken away by the beauty of it all! 

Cons:
- I expected this beforehand, but I feel like this factor needs to be MUCH more communicated! The majority of the tour takes part at > 4000 meters. This is not easy. Especially after not being acclimating properly beforehand, your body will react. If you can, please take some days to acclimatize beforehand! Drink lots of water and don’t underestimate the altitude! Also, Ginger, Coca leaves etc helps!
- another thing that can be communicated better: it will be a bumpy ride! We are talking 4 days of gravel road, multiple hours of driving each day. Bring some travel medicine if you get sick quickly!
- Emergency oxygen: I specifically asked the tour operator AND the local agency to bring emergency oxygen, because I had never been in such an altitude before and didn’t know how my body would react. They both assured me multiple times that the driver would bring. Well, when we got in the car, guess what - there was none. A bit disappointed by this because I’m sure the oxygen would have helped greatly (there was also another person in the car that felt quite ill). So, if you don’t know how your body will react, bring your own oxygen, you get acquire it in San Pedro!

The tour was very beautiful. We’ve seen a lot of very beautiful places. The variety of the nature is incredible and you have more than enough time to enjoy all the beauty. Also, the price was very good according to what you pay for other tours. We had a nice group and the jeep was clean and comfortable. 

Some minors:
- the food was quite simple, we ate the same vegatable soup for four times.
- there is no hot water in the second night (salt hotel), also the other two nights in the hostel were not really comfortable. 
- the driver does not speak any English, even though they advertise with it. Since we don’t speak Spanish, this was frustrating for both the driver and us.

Anyhow, we would recommend this for sure!!

Pro - great guide and salt flats is something out of this world.

Cons - not honest about how tough this expedition is. The altitude is really hard to adjust to and the villamar hostel is 1 star with almost no hot water. Roads are not paved the entire way and car does not have ac so you are basically breathing in sand nonstop.

I think if they were more honest about the experience, at least you know what you sign up for.

El tour fue muy lindo, en especial las personas, tanto los guias/choferes , como las personas de los hospedajes, muy amables, sus almuerzos y cenas riquisimas. Los hoteles limpios y comodos, el unico inconveniente fue que cuando llegamos al hotel de Sal, no habia suficiente agua para que la totalidad de los pasajeros se pudieran duchar. El resto fue todo muy armonioso

Absolutely sensational trip. From Day 1 to Day 4, you are witness to some of the most beautiful and spectacular landscapes on the planet. It's fun, interactive and international and most importantly, a great value for your money. Just be prepared to eat vegetable soup for every dinner meal and for a very no-frills hostel on Night 1 and 3.

Han sido unos días fantásticos. Nuestro chófer guia, Josué, muy prudente, amable y simpático. Nos cuidó muchísimo, incluso estubo muy pendiente de nuestra hija de 11 años.
Los lugares visitados valen la pena. 
Los hoteles sencillos pero limpios y confortables. 
La comida casera, sencilla pero buena. 
Repetiria la experiencia sin duda.

What an amazing experiance! Me and my husbang had the best time on our 4 day Uyuni experiance. Our driver Casimiro was great and even though we speak very little Spanish he made it really fun for us and with help of other people in our group we didn’t have problem understanding. Everything was super organized and on time. Meals were great, little basic in Villa Demar but we expected that since it’s a hostel. There is no phone service or WiFi access until 2nd night in salt hotel just so you know. Uyuni Salt Flat experience was unforgettable, Casimiro took really cool video of our group and assisted us in taking fun photos. Bolivia is absolutely stunning and highly recommend this tour.

Una excelente experiencia! Reservé a través de Howlanders. Cruz Andina se encargó todo el tiempo de apoyarme a través de mensajes para tener todo listo. Ahora, el viaje estuvo a cargo de World White Travel, un excelente y atento servicio en todo momento. Los encargados sumamente amables y atentos. Todas las instalaciones y comidas excelentes. Cada paisaje valió cada segundo el poder apreciarlo.

Everything was great and the sceneries were well beyond our expectations. The driver « Andres » was very professional and very flexible. Only thing: I don’t think that leaving at 4:30am on the last day was necessary because we arrived at the border in the morning.

Un tour muy completo en el que se aprovecha al máximo cada día. El hotel de sal elegido nos gustó mucho. El otro alojamiento más humilde pero aún así limpio y confortable. El vehículo y conductor que nos tocó muy bien también. 

We loved it so much! Amazing tour of 4 days, with indescribable beautiful sceneries. We felt lucky, not only with our group (2 other couples) but also with our friendly driver (Francisco) who was actually driving very safe, and even prepared super tasteful food during our stay. Hostal Villamar (blue house) & Hotel de Sal (crazy sunset) were cosy places to stay. Would recommend this tour and driver to anyone planning a visit to the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, starting from the Atacama desert in Chile.

Landscape is amazing. 
But we suffered from altitude sickness quite strong. So we couldn‘t enjoy the trip too much. 
Driver didn’t speak English at all. 
Don’t forget to bring your own drinking water. 
Accommodation in the first and third night is a really basic-style. 


We had an amazing experience! Our Guide Andres was the best! We didn’t even have problems with the language, eventough we don’t speak fluently spanish. We would highly recommend to book this tour and see the beauty of Bolivia! :)

De trip was overweldigend en veel mooie plaatsen van Uyuni en omgeving gezien. Goed verzorgde trip met goed eten, prettige gids en goed vervoer. De gids was Carlos.

Todos los días ofrecen la posibilidad de descubrir paisajes increíbles. Cada día los paisajes son más soprenantes pero el viaje se acaba con el salar de Uyuni maravilloso. La comida es muy rica. Y todo eso está acompañado de guías super amables y que le gustan compartir su cultura y su conocimiento del país.

Everyting worked out so well. Trip was amazing. We were taken into places which made us to hold our breath. Our guide/driver was very reliable. Food service was super,  selection of food was wide. Hotels were cozy. 
On our opinion you should inform the max altitudes and the altitudes of accommodations. Tour operator are highly recommened.

Very nice tour!  Way better tour that we expected, especially for the good price!  Driver only spome spanish but it was written in the tour description and he was very very nice !

Estupendo los Guias, Gilmar y José Luis. Su atención su profesionalidad y su simpatía. 
Muy bien las comidas, los desayunos preparados por los guías. 
La organización muy buena.
Sólo tengo una queja...no veo que sea muy bueno el reparto de clientes en los coches ya que íbamos 2 Españoles con 4 Franceses en un coche y en el otro coche 2 españoles con 4 Brasiñelos...
Qué hacemos todo el viaje si no hablamos francés con 4 franceses?? Si además había 2 españoles en otro coche? No lo entendíamos.

Por lo demás todo estupendo.

Excelent experience! I recommend this tour 100%, not only for the beautiful landscapes or the geeat experience but also good service.

Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa, lo hemos hecho en familia con 3 niños (8-10 y 12 años) . Nuestro guía Gilmar es excepcional, muy amable, divertido y lo nos ha contado mil historias. Gracias Gilmar.
El único pero, el  frío en los alojamientos que no tienen calefacción.
Recalcar que como dicen es todo, todo incluido y la comida excelente.

Os escribo para deciros que acabamos de llegar de nuestro viaje al salar de Uyuni. Ha sido estupendo en todos los sentidos. La organización perfecta. Los guías muy amables , conocedores de su tierra nos han tratado con mucho afecto. En especial Don Luis Mario , es una persona atenta siempre a nosotros y haciendo que estuviéramos a gusto. 
Los hostales a pesar de ser básicos estan bien. Nuestras habitaciones triples y con baño privado en buenas condiciones. 
La comida también buena. Don Luis Mario nos invitó a comer a su casa el último día. 
Y finalmente que decir del paisaje espectacular. Hemos disfrutado mucho.
La única pega es que hemos tenido que madrugar 😉 y estamos cansados del viaje .

Una experiencia maravillosa, paisajes impresionantes. Nuestro conductor Saúl muy profesional. Por poner una pega en el hostal que estuvimos en viña mar pasamos mucho frío en la zona común del comedor, deberían tener al menos un calefactor para caldear la zona.

Cuatro dias maravilloso en el salar.Todo lo que hay en él es como de otro planeta.Geisers,termas y el efecto espejo que es una pasada.El alojamiento y el tranporte muy bueno

Los alojamientos podrían ser mejores, pero por lo visto no hay mucha opción donde elegir en esta zona. Aún así, el salar es increíble y merece mucho la pena visitarlo.

En general un tour muy completo e interesante. Contento por haber reservado con ustedes este tour.

Hicimos una ruta por Chile y de un día para otro howlanders nos pudo organizar este tour. Lo recomendamos a todo el mundo si se visita la zona. Mucha suerte para todo el equipo de howlanders!!!
