The Howlanders' service was excellent; however, the local agency didn't meet the same standard. I understand that touring a high-altitude national park in Bolivia involves only basic tourist services, yet some aspects should not be considered standard. Our group consisted of 4 people, plus a driver and an English-speaking guide, for a total of 6. I see little point in paying for a private tour only to be crammed into the third-row seat—effectively the trunk—with legs curled up, obstructed views, and bumping along for 4-5 hours each day. We would happily pay double for a second vehicle, but the local agency insisted the Toyota Land Cruisers were sufficient for 7 adults. For young backpackers, this might be acceptable, but for those of us over 50, it was painful. We were also disappointed with the driver and guide. Though friendly, they occasionally shortened our itinerary to honour their priorities. The natural beauty of Bolivia was the trip’s highlight, with wildlife, abundant natural wonders, and geological formations we encountered along the way. When we climbed above 4000m, we did experience symptoms of altitude sickness, but we don't regret witnessing this otherworldly scenery in such a remote area.

We had the best time in Bolivia with our wonderful guide Heber from Estrella del Sur (Howlanders' local partner in Bolivia). It was simply the most memorable trip. Very long and tiring days, but that was only because we packed so much in! Uyuni was superlative, and the hotels provided on the tour were simply the best available in each place. I would highly recommend this tour with Howlanders!
