Meeting Point in Ginza and Drive to Kamakura

Your adventure begins at the meeting point in Ginza, where you'll board our bus and meet the bilingual guide who will accompany you throughout this scenic journey.

Visit to Kōtoku-in Temple and the Great Buddha of Kamakura

After approximately an hour and a half on the bus, your first historic stop takes you to Kamakura, where you'll come face-to-face with the Great Buddha (Daibutsu). Standing over 43 feet (13 meters) tall, this monumental bronze statue has remained outdoors for centuries, radiating the serenity that characterizes Japanese Buddhism.

💙 Howlanders Tip: If you collect goshuin stamps, you can get one at Kōtoku-in Temple. During busy periods or at certain times of the day, the temple may provide a preprinted version on a loose sheet of paper (kakioki) to paste into your notebook instead of writing it directly in your goshuincho.

Transfer to Hakone for a Boat Ride on Lake Ashi

You'll hop back on the bus for an approximately 2-hour drive to Hakone, where you'll enjoy a scenic boat ride lasting around 10 minutes across the peaceful waters of Lake Ashi. From the boat, you can admire the surrounding mountain scenery and, weather permitting, catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji's silhouette reflected in the water.

Lunch in Oshino Hakkai Village

After a little over an hour and a half on the bus, you'll arrive in Oshino Hakkai, a charming traditional village surrounded by crystal-clear ponds fed by underground springs from Mount Fuji. Following a guided walk through the village, it'll be time for lunch.

If you've selected the option with lunch, your guide will show you to the traditional restaurant where your meal will be served. Otherwise, you'll have an hour and a half to sample the local cuisine at your own pace.

Visit to Oishi Park and Lake Kawaguchi

This is the ultimate picture-postcard stop of the day: a beautiful natural setting filled with seasonal flowers, perfectly framing the majestic views of Mount Fuji (weather permitting) and the lake's sparkling waters.

Return to Tokyo

Finally, you'll board the bus once again for the approximately 2.5-hour journey back to the meeting point in Ginza, bringing your unforgettable day to an end.
