Pick up in Puerto Natales

The Torres del Paine 2-Day Hike Tour starts with pick up at your accommodation in Puerto Natales between 6:15 and 6:45 am. When everyone in the group has been collected, the private bus will head towards Torres del Paine National Park. On the way, the guide will explain the tour and the route to the Torres del Paine Base Viewpoint. This trip lasts approximately two hours.

You will arrive at the entrance of the National Park called Laguna Amarga Entrance. There, you will register to enter Torres del Paine National Park and head to the Welcome Center and the Central Sector. The trek begins!

Guided Trekking Base Torres Viewpoint

The hike follows the same trail on the outward and return. The outward journey will have a distance of 11 km and a positive difference in altitude of 2460 ft. (750 m.) and will take approximately 5 hours. Let's go there!

One of the first stops will be the Paso de los Vientos, overlooking the Ascensio Valley. You will continue until you reach the Chilean sector, where you will take a break.

Base Torres Viewpoint

The route continues and you will enter a cozy lenga forest. The last few meters will be a bit more technical, as you have to climb the glacier moraine, an area with large rocks that you will cross until you reach the imposing Base Torres viewpoint. A well-deserved rest.

Return to Central Sector

After this stop, where you will have lunch, it will begin the descent along the same trail and take approximately 3 hours. You will get to the park entrance where the private bus will be waiting to take you to the Pehoé Campground.

Pehoé Campground

You will arrive at the campsite around 07:30 pm. You will settle into your tent, take a hot shower, and get ready for dinner. Dinner is included in the tour and is served from 20:00 in the campsite restaurant.

DAY 2 Paine Viewpoints Trekking - Puerto Natales

Pehoé Camping

You will wake up in your tent at Camping Pehoé located on the shores of the lake with the same name. An exceptional location within the Torres del Paine National Park.

At 7:00 a.m. breakfast, included in the tour, will be served at the campsite restaurant. At the end of the tour, you will pick up your lunch-box for lunch (also included in the tour) at the same restaurant, and the second day will start!

On the second day of the Torres del Paine 2-Day Hike Tour, you will reach the best Paine Viewpoints. You will do the tour with your guide departing from the Pehoe Campground. This tour combines visits in a private bus with short hikes to reach the best viewpoints of the park.

Condor Viewpoint

You will leave the campsite towards the Condor Viewpoint, located just 0,62 miles (one kilometer) from the campsite. You will take a short hike uphill to reach a strategic point for bird watching.

You will return to the trail where the private bus will be waiting to take you to the Mirador Cuernos.

Nordenskjöld viewpoint

On the way, you will make a stop to admire the Nordenskjöld viewpoint from where you can appreciate the east face of the Paine Massif. Here the guide will make a characterization of the landscape from the geological point of view.

Trekking Salto Grande to Mirador Cuernos (round trip)

  • Time: 2:30 hours

You will follow the road to Salto Grande. From there, you will begin a 2-hour hike (round trip) to the Los Cuernos viewpoint. This section of the route will surprise you with a great variety of fauna. At this point, you will have lunch with a view of the Cuernos del Paine. Then you will get back on the private bus to the Aonikenk sector.

Mirador Cuernos

You will start the trekking from the Sarmiento Lake portería towards the Laguna Amarga portería (Portería-Portería). This route is of low difficulty and will last approximately two hours. You will walk through the Patagonian steppe, appreciating the Paine Massif and its lakes in the background.

Return to Puerto Natales

What to bring to Torres del Paine 2-Day Hike tour

The weather in Patagonia is extreme and changeable. You can experience all four seasons in one day. In addition, during the summer (when the tour takes place), it will be common to encounter strong winds. Howlanders advises you to bring clothing for different climates, ideally the 3-layer system.
