Despite the surprising amount of rain we got on the trail, the trek was still an incredible, unforgettable experience! Our guides handled things well, were super informative, the food was good and accommodations comfortable. All in all, quite an adventure, equal parts challenging and fun/exciting, with a great group of people. Would highly recommend!

The tour was easy to book, and I was able to notify the tour company of dietary restrictions for the people in the group.  We were given contact information for the local tour company, and it was easy to arrange pick-up in the morning of the tour.  The lost city hike was amazing - very challenging but very rewarding with amazing scenery throughout the walk, and the large and beautiful lost city site itself.

The trek to the lost city with Magic Tours surpassed my expectations. It was organised really well and we felt well looked after the whole time. Our guide KC was extremely knowledgeable and out translator Brian was so friendly and kind. We had a great trip with them and were really pleased with the price too :)

It was a very well organised tour and thoroughly planned (food, sleeping situation, etc). Definitely a once in a lifetime experience! However one suggestion is for the guides to not walk too fast, as I was often left behind due to my sore knees or because I was accompanying friends who were slower due to stomach bugs. I asked them many times to go slower (one guide in particular) and even though he tried to go slower once, this only lasted 30 minutes and then he resumed his fast pace. Also worth to point out there was no need to go walk that fast as we always arrived to campsites with plenty of time to spare. This is definitely a tough hike and a thing to integrate is the hiking rule "the slowest should go in first to set the pace of the entire group".

This was an amazing experience and worth the effort. I would definitely recommend this despite it being a physical challenge. The sights and the feeling of accomplishment you have after are priceless.

Be warned, the trek is tough. There are some uphill (and downhill) portions where the thought of giving up will be filling your mind. The heat and humidity can get really difficult to deal with. You'll be soaked in sweat the whole way so be prepared for that. 
We had the good luck when it came to weather though. I heard that if it's rainy it's way harder but we had a mix of cloudy and sunny weather all 4 days. Don't trust the weather apps - they said to expect rain all week.

The facilities exceeded my expectations. I thought that we'd all be sleeping in a hut with no bathrooms or showers. I also thought that the food portions would be small and tasteless but that wasn't the case at all. The camps are very cute. They have working toilets, showers, shops. There are bunkbeds with mosquito nets. 
Don't expect luxury or extreme cleanliness. There are a lot of groups doing the trek at the same time and there won't always be time to wash the bedsheets and dry them properly so there's a chance you'll sleep in used ones. You yourself won't be clean at all so that shouldn't bother you too much.
The food is amazing. Really big portions and very flavourful. I wasn't hungry at all during the 4 days. Vegan and vegetarian options available.

The worst part of the trek was the translator. There are some very good ones but the one our group got wasn't really great at english and often missed a lot of important information. Some of us who spoke Spanish would often translate things for him because we got second hand embarrassment or even annoyance from his translations. 
The other guides were all great; very friendly and helpful. You can tell they love their jobs and are eager to share the site's history.

Overall, this was one of the best experiences of my life and I would recommend this wholeheartedly.

Had the best time on the lost city trek with magic tour. We were so well looked after and had such an amazing experience. Sandra cooked the best food and we were led the entire way by Mario who is a legend. We were looked after by Nicolas who lent shoes to my friend when his broke. They did so much for us. Jose garcia was such a fun vibe too and very passionate.

Between the 3 of us from Scotland, we have been on many different types of tours, and Melkys was the best tour guide any of us have ever had. You can tell he is very passionate about sharing his knowledge of the Tayrona area and it’s people. Furthermore, he made sure that everyone in the group was catered for and turned what could have been a difficult trek for some into a very enjoyable experience for everyone. Just when people on the tour were  losing a bit of motivation, Melkys would crack a smile or a joke and everyone would share his smile. Much appreciated.

Great experience. Very well organized. Our guide (Nelson) and interpreter (Sebastian) were fantastic and took good care of us. Accommodations are good, with bunk beds, nets and bathrooms. Food was great, big portions and good quality. 
Bring COP as you will want to buy beer and especially gatorade at camps. 
Hydralite or pedialite tablets are a good idea to bring as we did it end of April and it was hot!!

Had an amazing time with wonderful guides. However, one guide (Oscar) made a sexual joke to one of the team during a group presentation that was incredibly inappropriate and really spoiled our evening discussion with the indigenous individual.

Great experience. 
The guide was nice and the accommodations fine. Really enjoyed the variety of food and especially the fruits & juices. 
However, it’s a shame that water is not free all along the way. Given the price of the trek, it should be. The only way to have enough free water is to carry a lot of bottles, which no one does given the difficulty of the trek. That should definitely change. 

We had an excellent tour with Pedro, Magaly, Santos and Brian. The only downsize was the large group with 19 pax, while the website claims a group size of max. 15 pax.

This is a tough trek that turns into a mudsliding contest when it rains. It really requires both the physical abilities and a strong mentality. But our guides - Santos, Zulejmi and the local legend Jose Garcia - did a great job in ensuring the group was up to the task, keeping spirits high, and provided lots of important information. Food was also very decent, given the conditions. We can very much recommend to book with Magic Tours, if considering to make it to Ciudad Perdida. And we also recomment for Magic Tour to consider how to make the jeep journey to/from Santa Marta safer and more comfortable.

1000% recommend. A great experience and a must do when in Colombia. I hope you are as lucky as me and have Miguel, Luzmeri and Giyu as guides.

I loved every second about this trip! The team from magic tours really was magic! Juan Carlos, Leidys, Brian and Rodrigo really made such a big effort to make our trip the best enjoyable experience and they totally succeeded! Although it was sweaty and wet sometimes, I enjoyed every moment! The hike is amazing and the ciudad perdida totally worth a visit! It was so cute how the team took care of us all the time, they would cut melons and ananas and organise coffee and and and…. Totally recommend it!

C'est une expérience formidable. On mange très bien. Les gens du trek sont très accueillants et gentils. 

Overall it was very good. Hard work but an achievement to complete the trek. The Lost City is amazing.  The head guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. So was his assistant Camila. Unfortunately the translator/guide proved to be unhelpful. On the first day when I asked a question he replied that I would have to wait for my answer until all the group was together as he did not want to answer the same question many times. I do not know what his job title is but if a client asks a question then he should answer the question. I did not bother to ask any more questions during this trip. I also don't understand why clients were asked to sleep in hammocks and on mattresses on the floor. Tours should not be booked if there are no beds for the clients.

Our tour guide Nicolas was really nice and a great guide! He made sure that every person could go on his or her own speed!  The food was great, even vegan and vegetarian option!!!! 
Camps were nice as well. 
Magic tours is a good company which takes care of their employers! 


Jose and Jose were fantastic guides, and the tour was great! 

It would have been nicer if they made groups for beginner and experienced hikers. Also if they would have told us something about the flora and fauna in the jungle. And to eat something else than rice (other groups had pasta, soup etc.) Other than this, all good.

Really a great experience, especially thanks to our guide / translater Juan and to Andres. Both of them were fantastic: professional, well organised, always smiling and cheering us up. They consistently made their utmost to ensure each member of the group had what they needed. Juan (in Pedro's absence, after he had to leave us for personal reasons) always provided us with detailed and interesting information about the site and also the local tribes' culture. Andres was very helpful at all times as well, in particular to help us when the track was a bit tricky, and also to ensure, with Juan, that meals be served quickly. The meals were good and we had more than enough; well done to the cook as well ! 
I would just advise Magic Tour to add ponchos  in the list of things that one should bring (perhaps even instead of sweaters, whoch were not really necessary). Fortunately for some of us, Juan distributed large plastic wastebags, which did the trick when it rained ! 

The experience was excellent overall; Guide and assistant Guide superb, so was the translator and the cook.  The food was also very good.  Sleeping accommodations were poor because the camps were overloaded with too many guest for the amount of spaces in the camps, the preference for everyone was to sleep in beds since the trekking is exhausting and very demanding.  Getting to the Lost City is unforgettable experience, I highly recommended for those who like this type of activities and who are physically fit.

We had an amazing time! José García, hombre de la sintonía is the best possible guide and really made the trek an unforgettable experience. Always good vibes. He also gave us a lot of information about the history and development of the place and the indigenous community. It was all well organized and even the (veggie) food was really good. 

Where do I begin, this trek surpassed my expectations exponentially! Our guides ( Mano, Juan and Ramon) fostered a family style experience, caring, supportive along with twist of humor and fun thrown in. The meals and lodging added to the experience, allowing us to try authentic Colombia meals! To top things off, a couples days after our trek Magic Tours allowed us to store our bags in their office before an evening flight. Magic Tours was a top notch company, I would highly recommend this trek to anyone looking for a memorable and challengingly experience!
My one suggestion for improvement would be to provide more concrete pickup directions! In your communications to future trekkers provide the cab company name, provide the driver with a Magic Tours poster board something to distinguish your cab drivers from the masses in Santa Marta!

It was super nice very good guides and staff. We had great food and a super experience. We recommend it.

Victor and Brian our tour guides were fantastic. The overall experience and workout and views are something I'll never to forget. Very enjoyable. However, if I could change anything it would be to do the trek during the dry season. But it was a five star experience.

Hicimos Ciudad Perdida en Colombia y también fue todo perfecto, nos pidieron PCR para hacerlo y tienen un laboratorio que te lo puede hacer a un coste bajísimo. El camino no tiene mucha dificultad y las ruinas de Ciudad Perdida valen totalmente la pena. Los campamentos mucho mejor de lo esperado con camas cómodas, duchas y muy buen ambiente!

Fantastic tour! Wolfgang and Ali (sp)? Were the best guides. The camps were great and the food was simple yet plentiful and nutritious. The experience overall was amazing. I would highly recommend this tour. Life changing!

Probably the best experience I’ve ever had! Our guides Sergio, Saul and the guys :) in the kitchen did an amazing job. Our whole group felt like one big family, they showed us beautiful places hidden in the forest, we’ve learnt so many important information about indigenous people and their way of life. Everyone respects the rules of the mother nature and the tour itself, and it made it unforgettable experience. Thanks a lot guys, we will definitely recommend to our friends, family and other travellers. Good Job!!!

The guides Juan Carlos and Miguel (Tyson) were absolutely brilliant during the whole trip. They kept us motivated at all times and they were patient with all of us. Unfortunately my friend and me got sick for a while but they both took care of us providing everything we needed. The organisation was brilliant and we got on time every day, having the opportunity to swim in the rivers just next to the camps. The whole trek is amazing, the views are impressive and the lost city itself is breathtaking. The campsites are great with comfortable beds and the food was very good. I was surprised to see that the vegetarian option included texturised soya and other stuff like this. However I got very upset to see how the kitchen staff had to throw all the left overs (tones of food that were still in the pan) when some indigenous people seemed to be waiting for it like if they were starving... not sure how they do or if they are hungry under the conditions that they live (even if they maybe choose to live this way) but anyways it doesn’t seem fair. The kitchen staff explained that they were not allowed to give it to them, something that surprised me and I did not understand very well. As a suggestion, I’d like to say that it might be better if they don’t prepare that much food or in the case that this situation keeps happening, allowing the kitchen staff to give the indigenous some left overs shouldn’t be a problem and for me it would have been 100 times better than throwing it away. Also, it would be interesting if the agencies were a bit more clear in terms of where the money we pay goes. Showing an approximated percentage of how much goes to the indigenous and people working in the small towns and on the way would be a good idea.

Everything was awesome. The only thing I would suggest / wished that happened for our group is when you are in the lost city to space out the groups more. My pictures of the lost city had too many people in them and this could have been prevented with half an hour or so space between each group. Other than that it was really good thank you!

The tour was great, with expert guides and lots of great food. 
One point for improving: put people in to groups by fitness ability. So that slower people don’t feel rushed or miss out on the chats, and faster people don’t get bored having to wait for the last person all the time. 

Overall very good trip

It was a great tour and we laugh very much with Juan and Mister Miyagi.

Great experience.  Beautiful and special place.  Wilson and Kayley were excellent, fun informative and well organized.  The sleeping accommodation and food were better than I expected.  I would highly recommend.

Such an amazing experience, right from the beginning! Pre departure the help I had was very much appreciated and they had answered any concerns I had and were willing to help with anything. The tour itself was breathtaking. Myself and my group were so well looked after and I was not expecting such a high standard of living and quality of food. Our guide and translator were just perfect, funny, friendly and full with such knowledge. Overall experience was 10/10 with everything.

El lugar es espectacular, el recorrido y hacer senderismo por la zona hace que conectes mucho más con el lugar y toda la historia que tiene para contarte.

La selva, los paisejas, fauna y flora de camino a Ciudad Perdida es una maravilla. Una vez llegas a la ciudad perdida la sensación es de estar en otro mundo. Quizá el unico pero que podría ponerle al tour sería el de pasar las noches en la selva pero para hacer este tour no hay otra opción mejor de alojamiento,.
