Tour itinerary

todayDAY 1 Quito - Coca - Transfer to the Napo Wildlife Center Lodge

access_time11 : 40 AM
In the case of choosing the extra flight from Quito to Coca, the support staff of Napo Wildlife Center will be waiting for the group at the counter of the Tame company in the Quito airport to help with check-in and getting tickets. After the 30 minute flight, we will land at the Coca airport, where the Napo Wildlife team will be waiting for the group. They will transfer the group to the port "La Misión" about five minutes away. There, they will give a briefing before taking a comfortable four-hour motor boat to the lodge. We will make a short stop midway for a break to go to the bathroom, as well as change to a smaller boat that will take us to the lodge.
During the journey, we will be given a welcome kit with drinks and snacks to regain strength, and begin to make contact with the wonderful environment in which we will find ourselves. On the way to the lodge we will have the opportunity to see different species of monkeys jumping from the tops of the trees and communicating with each other, precious birds, spiders and if lucky, even an anaconda.
Upon arrival at the lodge, you will disembark, be given a welcome drink of freshly prepared juice, and the lodge manager will give a short briefing in the dining room of the spectacular Wildlife Center tower. We will have free time to enjoy the beautiful views of the lagoon until it is time to taste the delicious and elaborate dinner, after which you will make our way to our comfortable rooms to rest up to go to the Amazon the next day.

todayDAY 2 Salar - Short hike through the jungle - Kichwa Añangu Community

access_time6 : 00 AM
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will board the boat with the guide and the rest of the small group and head to the “salar”, which is a place where the animals come to feed. There, we can enjoy the impressive spectacle of color and sound created by the multiple species of parrots and macaws when they come together.
Later, accompanied by a guide, we will have the opportunity to do a short hike in which we will get to know the unique flora of the Yasuní National Park, its spectacular trees, its medicinal plants and with a bit of luck, you may even find jaguar tracks along the way. At the end of this quick journey we will arrive to the Kichwa Añangu Community.
Afterwards, walking through the interior of the incredible jungle, we will go to another “salar” to see how these animals come to feed, some of these animals being species of birds of different types and sizes, from parakeets to macaws, whose delightful colors and beauty will leave us impressed.
We will return to the Napo Cultural Center, where we will eat together with the Kichwa Añangu Community and see first hand what their daily life is like and how they develop their activities to preserve the wonderful environment in which they live. These activities consist of renewable energy, as well as educational and cultural development projects. After immersing ourselves in their culture, we will take the canoes to the lodge where a delicious dinner will be waiting for us.

todayDAY 3 Observation tower - short hike through the jungle - lagoon

access_time6 : 00 AM
After a delicious breakfast, we will go to the observation tower in the heart of the jungle, of almost 130 feet (40m), from which we can observe nature at all levels and from all perspectives. This secure platform at the top of a grand Ceibo tree will allow us to enjoy the most incredible views of the Amazon. From these heights, we will admire an infinite green layer with the mighty Napo River crossing through, a multitude of colorful and spectacular birds that only live in the high tree tops and even families of monkeys. It truly is an incredible, natural show.
Following a tasty lunch, we will visit the Terra Firme trail where we will walk through the primary forest to get into the depths of the jungle, having the opportunity to enjoy multiple species of animals, such as monkeys and birds that will delight us with their presence. Later we will explore the lake in search of the giant otter family that inhabits it. These animals are the most threatened carnivore that America that has seen, but their population has increased in recent years, thanks to the work and conservation efforts of the Kichwa Añangu community.
We will return to the lodge to enjoy what will be the last dinner at Napo Wildlife Center. There will be a delicious buffet prepared with great care by local chefs of great prestige. Perhaps the light of the moon reflected in the beautiful lagoon allows us to see the bright eyes of the alligators that are there, a beautiful farewell as a finishing touch to this incredible stay.
