The Napo Wildlife Center is considered one of the best eco-hotels in the world. It is a community-based tourism project created by the Kichwa Añangu Community, in the heart of the Yasuni National Park and is listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. 

In these 4 days, we will live a luxury experience in the heart of the Amazon, where we will discover the flora and fauna of the place, as rich as diverse: anacondas, otters, caimans and a great variety of monkeys and birds that coexist in perfect harmony.

Tour itinerary

DAY 1 Quito - Coca - Napo Wildlife Center

11:40 A.M.

Quito - Coca

If you choose the extra flight from Quito to Coca, at the Tame company counter at the Quito airport, Napo Wildlife Center support staff will be waiting for us to help us with the check-in. After 30 minutes of flight, we will land in Coca and take a 5 minutes transfer to get to the port "La Misión".

Boat ride 🛶

At the port we will have an explanatory briefing and then we will take a 4 hours motor boat to the lodge. On the way we will be given a welcome kit with drinks and snacks, to replenish our strength and start to get in touch with the wonderful environment of the Amazon. Along the way we will see monkeys, birds, spiders and even an anaconda.

Napo Wildlife Center

Upon arrival at the lodge, we will disembark and be given a welcome drink of freshly squeezed juice. The manager will give us a briefing in the dining room of the spectacular tower. We will have free time to enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Añangu until dinner time. Afterwards we will rest in our rooms and recharge our batteries for the next day.

DAY 2 Parrot and parakeet clay licks - Kuri Muyu - Jungle hike

06:00 A.M.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will board the boat along with the guide to head to the parrot and parakeet saladeros. Here we will see how the animals come to feed and enjoy the magnificent spectacle of colors and sounds that parrots and macaws create when they come together.

Kuri Muyu Interpretation Center

We will then visit the Kuri Muyu Interpretation Center, run by the women of the community. Here we will see first hand what their daily life is like, the Kichwa culture, handicrafts, traditions and ancestral uses of natural resources.

Jungle walk

Later, we will take a 30-minute walk through the jungle until we reach another parrot farm, where we will see 11 different species of parrots. Then we will have lunch with the whole group and head to the ecolodge for dinner.

DAY 3 Observation tower - Hike through the forest - Lagoon

06:00 A.M.

Observation tower 

After breakfast, we will go to the tower of almost 40 meters located in the heart of the jungle. From here we will be able to observe nature at all levels and from all perspectives. We will contemplate an infinite green mantle crossed by the mighty Napo River, a multitude of colorful and spectacular birds that only live in the high treetops and even families of monkeys. Take out your camera and capture these incredible images!

Walk through the forest

After lunch, we will hike the Terra Firme trail. We will go into the forest and deep into the jungle enjoying multiple species such as monkeys and birds. Afterwards, we will explore the lake in search of the family of giant otters that inhabit it.

Return to the lodge

We will return to the lodge to enjoy the last dinner at the Napo Wildlife Center, a delicious buffet dinner lovingly prepared by local chefs. Afterwards, we will be able to observe the moon reflected in the lagoon, which will allow us to see the shining eyes of the caimans found there.

DAY 4 Navigation Napo River - Coca Airport - Quito

Napo River Navigation

After breakfast we will take the canoes, say goodbye to the lagoon and head to the Napo River. During the trip we will have the chance to see for the last time the monkeys in the treetops and some exotic birds. We will arrive at the port of exchange where we will take the motor boat to the airport in Coca to take the flight back to Quito. Here our incredible 4 day experience at the Napo Wildlife Center will come to an end.
