Tour itinerary

todayDAY 1 Quito - Lago Agrio - Lodge

The driver will pick up at Lago Agrio to take us to the northeast of the province of Sucumbíos, marveling at the landscapes of the rainforest. Once we get to "El Puente", we will make a small stop to eat lunch and then cross the river by canoe, offering spectacular views of the flora and fauna of Cuyabeno.
Upon arrival, we will get a warm welcome at the lodge, and then have time to leave our luggage in the rooms and relax until dinner time. Our guide will give us a brief explanatory briefing about the Lodge, the magnificent Cuyabeno Reserve and everything we will have the chance to see during these days of the tour.

todayDAY 2 Lagoons - Short hike through the rainforest

After breakfast we will begin our route to observe the ecosystem of the "Laguna Grande", navigating through "Igapo" (tropical flooded rainforest). There, we will see incredible Mimosa trees, these being the ideal habitat for orchids, lichens, ferns and the Epiphyllum cactus. We will walk throughout the whole morning while the guide speaks to us about the Tropical Rainforest. You will be able to see a great variety of birds, among them being the carpenter bird, tanagers and toucans. We can also observe different species of monkeys such as capuchins, barizos and sakis.
After lunch and after resting at the lodge, we will sail again through the "Laguna Grande" to enjoy a beautiful sunset and check out the fishing bats and herons by canoe. When we return we will have dinner and you can order a cocktail or join a small walk around the Lodge, being able to observe the wonderful nocturnal fauna of the Tropical Rainforest such as tree frogs, insects and aotus monkeys (AKA night monkeys).

todayDAY 3 Cuyabeno - Camp

Today we will live the Amazon from within, enjoying one of the most authentic experiences that you can have in Cuyabeno. While we descend along the river, bordering the mountain by canoe, you can see animals such as monkeys and birds of very different species. After lunch, we will find a perfect place to camp and leave some extra luggage there, and then head into the rainforest in search of animals. Arriving at night, we will return for dinner and spend the night in the tents, enjoying the fact that we are in the heart of the rainforest.

todayDAY 4 Cuyabeno - Canoe

In the early morning we will enjoy a small canoe ride shortly after breakfast. We will walk through a part of the rainforest where there is a great variety of animals such as herons, turkeys, hawks, orioles and kingfishers. We will take the canoe and go to the lake of the Cuyabeno River in search of other birds such as toucans, hummingbirds and parrots. Our adventure continues at night to look for alligators and other nocturnal animals. Without a doubt, today will be memorable.

todayDAY 5 Cuyabeno and Siona Community

We will sail along the Cuyabeno River to get to know the life and daily activities of the local community, as well as have the opportunity to buy their crafts. The shaman will talk about his experiences in the heart of the rainforest and the healing rituals he performs, including an ancestral healing ceremony passed down for generations. In the afternoon you will get to meet a local Siona family, participating in the preparation of a local dish called “casabe”. We will return to the lodge for dinner and to rest.

todayDAY 6 Activities (to be confirmed with our guide)

On this day, we will be the ones who plan the itinerary together to our liking (with the help of our guide). The Lodge offers a variety of activities included in the price, such as hiking, swimming or canoe paddling. We can consult with the guide to advise us and help us organize the best plan to fully enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

todayDAY 7 Return to the Lodge - Quito

After breakfast, we will take the canoes and return to Lago Agrio, enjoying the incredible and unique fauna and flora for the last time. We will eat lunch on the way and then be transferred to the Lago Agrio Airport, thus ending our tour in the Amazon.
