Your adventure begins in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, where you will travel by canoe along the Cuyabeno River to your jungle lodge. Explore the stunning Laguna Grande, enjoy a sunset swim, and join a nighttime excursion searching for caimans, snakes, and nocturnal wildlife. The following day, hike through primary rainforest with a naturalist guide and explore the flooded forest by catamaran or canoe.
On day three, wake up early for birdwatching, return toward Lago Agrio, and continue to Limoncocha Lagoon, a peaceful Amazonian wetland known for its incredible sunsets, abundant birdlife, and nighttime wildlife experiences. - ITINERARY: As this tour takes place in a remote Amazon rainforest environment, the itinerary may be adjusted due to weather conditions, river levels, or wildlife activity. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, as all animals are observed in their natural habitat.
- CELL SERVICE & INTERNET: Wi-Fi is not available at the lodge, and cell phone coverage is extremely limited or unavailable in most areas. This provides a unique opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse yourself in the Amazon rainforest.
- FACILITIES: This is a nature and adventure experience in a remote area of the Amazon. Facilities are simple but comfortable and have been designed to blend with the natural environment while minimizing environmental impact.

Tour itinerary
Day 1: Puente Cuyabeno – Cuyabeno River – Caimán Lodge – Laguna Grande
Meeting at Puente Cuyabeno
You’ll meet up with the group at Puente Cuyabeno between 11:00 and 11:30 AM. There, you’ll check in at the Cuyabeno Reserve office and receive an introductory briefing from the naturalist guide.
During this briefing, you’ll learn important information about the reserve, recommendations for the trip, and useful tips for enjoying your experience in the Amazon rainforest.

Cruise on the Cuyabeno River
After check-in, you’ll board a canoe and begin a roughly 2-hour boat ride down the Cuyabeno River toward Caimán Lodge.
During the trip, you’ll discover the Amazon’s flora and fauna. Depending on the weather and time of day, you may spot monkeys, tropical birds, and other animals typical of the jungle.
You’re scheduled to arrive at Caimán Lodge around 1:30 PM. Upon arrival, you’ll have lunch, check into your room, and have a few minutes to rest.

Day 2: Nature hike – Primary forest – Catamaran or motorized canoe
A Full Day of Eco-Adventures in the Cuyabeno Reserve
You’ll start the day with breakfast at 7:00 a.m. At 8:00 AM, you’ll take a rowed canoe to one of the trails in the Cuyabeno Reserve.
There, you’ll take a roughly 3-hour hike through the primary forest. During the hike, your guide will explain the ecology of the Amazon rainforest, the use of medicinal plants, the variety of animals that inhabit the area, and the interactions that make this ecosystem one of the most biodiverse on Earth. Afterward, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon Canoe Trip at Sunset
After lunch, you’ll have time to relax in the hammocks or in your room.
At 4:30 PM, you’ll set out on a catamaran or motorized canoe for a leisurely tour of the area. During the trip, you can relax and spot animals such as pink dolphins, monkeys, birds, and other Amazonian species. You’ll also have time to swim and enjoy another sunset in the jungle.
At 7:30 PM, you’ll have dinner at the lodge. Tonight, you’ll enjoy a special dinner on the terrace with your guide and share a farewell cocktail to Cuyabeno.

Day 3: Sunrise in Cuyabeno – Lago Agrio – Limoncocha Reserve
Birdwatching at Dawn
At 5:30 AM, you’ll head out to watch the sunrise and observe bird activity. This is one of the best times of day to listen to the sounds of the jungle and see different species on the move. At 8:00 AM., you’ll return to the lodge for breakfast and to pack your bags.
Return to Lago Agrio and Magic Paradise
At 9:30 AM, you’ll begin your return to Puente Cuyabeno. From there, you’ll take private transportation to Lago Agrio, specifically to the Magic Paradise meeting point, where you’ll have lunch. After lunch, you’ll have some free time, and then you’ll check into your rooms.
Visit to the Limoncocha Reserve
At 2:45 PM, you’ll depart by private transport for the Limoncocha Reserve. The trip will take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Upon arrival, you’ll check in at the reserve and take a motorized canoe tour lasting about 1 hour. During the tour, you’ll be able to observe birds and enjoy the scenery of this Amazonian lagoon, known for its distinctive lime-green color. Later, you’ll watch the sunset over the lagoon and continue exploring in search of caimans. You’ll also be able to enjoy the natural spectacle of fireflies, which will light up the night with their twinkling lights.
At 8:30 AM, you’ll have dinner and then return to Magic Paradise, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Magic Paradise or Nueva Loja Park – End of the tour
On the last day, you can choose one of the following options, depending on your preferences and availability.
Option 1: Hike along the Magic Paradise Trail
After breakfast at 8:30 AM, you’ll meet at the Magic Paradise meeting point at 9:30 AM. There, the nature guide will give you a brief overview of the morning’s activities.
You’ll then walk the Magic Paradise trail accompanied by the guide. During the tour, you’ll see various farm animals such as ponies, miniature horses, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, ducks, rabbits, and other animals that may be part of the tour.
You’ll also visit the pools where the paiche (or pirarucú) lives—one of the largest fish in the Amazon. Later, you’ll go sport fishing for tilapia, which will then be prepared for lunch.
Option 2: Visit to Nueva Loja Park
After breakfast at 8:30 AM, you’ll meet at Magic Paradise at 9:30 AM. After a brief briefing with the guide, you’ll depart by private transport for Nueva Loja Park. There, you’ll take a tour of the zoo, where you’ll see birds, monkeys, guantas, caimans, anacondas, and other Amazonian species.
You’ll then visit the area dedicated to Amazonian ethnic groups, such as the Siona, Cofán, and Quichuas. During the tour, you’ll learn about traditional foods and plants used in natural medicine. After lunch, the tour will end at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Travelers returning to Quito by private transportation will be picked up at this location. Arrival in Quito is scheduled between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM.

You can reach the meeting point by private transportation or by public bus from Lago Agrio or Quito, although we recommend the private transfer option for greater comfort and safety. Payments are made upon arrival, and private transfers can also be arranged upon request.

Is there electricity, a cable TV connection, and internet?
Yes, there is electricity at Caiman Lodge, although it is not available all day, as it is powered by solar panels and managed to conserve energy. Electricity is mainly available in the evening, from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., allowing you to charge devices such as cameras and cell phones. There is no Wi-Fi service at the lodge, and cell phone reception is generally very limited or nonexistent. Only in some cases, with a CNT SIM card, is it possible to get occasional reception from elevated areas such as the tower.
