Tour Cuyabeno Amazon

Pick up in Lago Agrio

We will be picked up in Lago Agrio to take us to the northeast of the province of Sucumbios, marveling at the landscapes of the rainforest. Once we arrive at El Puente, we will make a short stop for lunch and then cross the river by canoe, offering us a first glimpse of the flora and fauna of Cuyabeno.

Arrival at Lodge

Upon arrival, we will be greeted with a warm welcome at the lodge, we will have time to leave our luggage in the rooms and relax until dinner time. Our guide will give us a brief briefing about the Lodge, the magnificent Reserva Cuyabeno and everything we will have the opportunity to see during these days of the tour.

Navigation and Hike through the jungle

We will start our route to observe the ecosystem of the Laguna Grande, navigating through Igapó, a tropical flooded forest, where we will see incredible Mimosa trees or the Epiphyllum cactus. 

We will walk all morning while the guide tells us the secrets of the jungle. We will be able to admire a great variety of monkeys and birds, such as the woodpecker, tanagers, and toucans.

Sunset and night hike

After lunch and after resting at the lodge, we will navigate again through the Laguna Grande to finish, enjoying a sunset in the Amazon. In the evening, we will have the opportunity to take a hike around the lodge in search of nocturnal wildlife.

Sunrise in Cuyabeno and visit to the shaman house.

We board the boat, before breakfast, in order to watch birds and enjoy the sunrise on the Cuyabeno River. After breakfast, we will go down the river, admiring the toucans or monkeys from the river.

During this tour, we will visit the local Shaman, who will tell us some of his experiences in the rainforest. He will also show us a small ceremony, indicating the steps to keep on in a healing ritual.

Yucca Harvest

Upon arrival at Puerto Bolivar, we will be able to participate in the harvesting and preparation of cassava (yucca), this being the most important activity for the food of the indigenous communities. We will taste bread cooked with the dried flour of the yucca, and we will also be able to see its elaboration process. In the afternoon, we will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Return to Lago Agrio

After breakfast, we will take the canoes and return to Lago Agrio, enjoying for the last time on this return trip, the incredible and unique fauna and flora of the place. We will have lunch on the way and board the transfer that will take us to the Lago Agrio airport, ending our Cuyabeno Jungle Tour.
