Important information

📅 Ski Touring Chamonix is only available during the winter and spring seasons (from December 14th to April 30th). High season is from December 28th to January 3rd and from February 15th to 28th.

💪 It is essential to be in good physical shape and have some experience in downhill skiing or ski touring to do the tour.

🚫 Due to the demanding nature of the activity, Howlanders does not recommend it for people in poor shape, with heart problems or pregnant women.

Meeting point in Chamonix

The day before, we will confirm the meeting point according to the selected ski touring route. We will also indicate the ski pass you need to get to the starting point and return to Chamonix at the end.

The guide will be waiting for you at the meeting point at 9:00 am. From Howlanders we recommend you arrive at least 15 minutes before, punctuality will always be a plus on your trip to Chamonix🙂.

Accompanied by the guide, you will take the corresponding transport to the start of the route and the ski touring adventure around Chamonix will begin!

Return to Chamonix

At the end of the tour, you will take the shuttle back to Chamonix with your guide. You will be back in the city around 4:00 PM or earlier, depending on the selected route and the characteristics of the group.

Route les Aiguillettes des Posettes

Level: beginners

Negative vertical drop: 2297 ft. (700 m.)

Skiing time: 2h30.

Location: Le Tour

The route les Aiguillettes des Posettes is located next to the ski slopes of Le Tour. This route offers an ideal first experience for beginner skiers. The Chamonix Valley and the Tour Glacier will be your backdrop.

This descent can be done off-piste or along the red and blue runs of the ski area.

It will be essential to have some experience or take a course in the days before the tour, in downhill skiing or ski touring, to be able to join the route.

Route Col des Dards

Level: intermediate

Negative vertical drop: 2625 ft. (800 m.)

Skiing time: 3h.

Location: Flégère

The Col des Dards is located above Lac Blanc in Flégère and is the perfect route for intermediate skiers. You will access it by the cable car that takes you up to Flégère and then continue down the ski slopes.

Along the way, you will have views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguilles de Chamonix and cross the frozen Lac Blanc. Something that certainly adds a unique touch to this descent.

Route Col du Passon

Level: expert

Elevation gain: 3281 ft. (1000 m.)

Negative vertical drop: 7218 ft. (2200 m.)

Skiing time: 4-6h.

Location: Grands Montets

The Col du Passon is a demanding glacier route only suitable for experienced skiers. You will access it from the top of the Bochard cable car in Grands Montets.

A real adventure that will take you over the Col des Rachasses at almost 9842 ft. (3000 m.) altitude, and the Argentière glacier, before reaching the Col du Passon.

The reward: a unique descent along the left bank of the Le Tour glacier, in front of the Albert 1er refuge, to the village of Tour.
