Tour itinerary

todayDAY 1 Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lagoon

access_time4:30 am
The tour will begin with our hotel pickup at 4:30 AM. Once we have met our fellow travelers, we will embark on the minibus on a two hour ride to Mollepata. Here we will share a breakfast at the edge of the Cusco municipality before continuing to Soraypampa, the starting point of our trek. This part will take another hour.
Once we arrive at Soraypampa (3900m over sea level), we will begin the 300m ascend to the Humantay lake, which will take us roughly 90 minutes on foot. When we reach the lake, you will be rewarded with the magnificent panorama of this place. You cannot only admire the Humantay Glacier (reaching up to 5450m above sea level) but the mountain range of Villcamba. After a break and some time to walk around, we will get ready for the descend back to Soraypampa.
When we reach Soraypampa again, you will be able to explore the area for a bit and visit the Salkantay trail and mountain (of a majestic 6251m height). It is even the second largest mountain in the whole Cusco region. After our short expedition, we will gather at Soraypampa again to share a buffet lunch before boarding the minibus again, that will bring us safely back to Cusco in the late afternoon, around 7:30 p.m.

Where does the tour Humantay Lake Trek start

Cusco is the main tourist city of Peru and is very well connected. If you plan to arrive from Lima, you can get to Cusco by bus (24 hour trip) or take a one hour flight. You can choose between low cost airlines like Peruvian Airlines, LCP or StarPeru or full-service airlines like Latam and Avianca. If you plan to arrive from Arequipa, the bus ride to Cusco will take roughly ten hours. Alternatively you can also arrive by plane, in this case, however, the only airline that offers direct flights is Latam Airlines. If you plan to arrive from Puno, the best option is to take a bus on a six hour trip. We also offer the possibility to take a tourist bus route that stops in the most important places and landmarks along the way, leaving Puno at 7:00 AM and arriving at Cusco at 5:30 PM.
