Tour itinerary

todayDAY 1 Cusco – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero – Cusco

access_time8:00 am
We will be picked up at our accommodation in Cusco around 8 o’clock in the morning and once we met the rest of our fellow travelers, we will head to the first stop of our tour: Pisac. Pisac is located deep inside the Sacred Valley. Here we will visit the many monuments around the city and the traditional market of the city, before continuing to our next destinations.
We are going to visit the cities of Calco and Urubamba before entering the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the most important fortifications of the ancient Inca. It served as the gateway to the whole village and used to protect the Inca villages from raiding parties of neighbouring tribes of the lower jungle.
In the afternoon, we will visit the last stops of our tour before returning to Cusco: the sites of Chinchero. Here we will explore the ruins of the Royal Hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui and the colonial-era temple built on Inca foundations, which is famous for its intricate mosaics. Finally, after this eventful day, we will board our bus to Cusco again. We are going to arrive back in Cusco around seven o’clock, where our tour will end in the city center.

Where does the tour The Sacred Valley start

Cusco is the main tourist city of Peru and is very well connected. If you plan to arrive from Lima, you can get to Cusco by bus (24 hour trip) or take a one hour flight. You can choose between low cost airlines like Peruvian Airlines, LCP or StarPeru or full-service airlines like Latam and Avianca. If you plan to arrive from Arequipa, the bus ride to Cusco will take roughly ten hours. Alternatively you can also arrive by plane, in this case, however, the only airline that offers direct flights is Latam Airlines. If you plan to arrive from Puno, the best option is to take a bus on a six hour trip. We also offer the possibility to take a tourist bus route that stops in the most important places and landmarks along the way, leaving Puno at 7:00 am and arriving at Cusco at 5:30 pm.
