The trip was good, but the horror we came to in Machu Picchu was haunting to mar everything

The local guide in Machu Picchu abandoned us 15 minutes after the trip started. We requested him to walk more slowly to suit our pace. We were assured in the pre-trip meeting that all clients, however fast and slowly, will be taken care of

The name of this unprofessional Machu Picchu guide is Mr Ulises Quispe. He committed blatant dereliction of duty

We were abandoned and he left us high and dry and put us in grave danger 

When we requested him to walk slow, he answered back disparagingly, “then I would have doubled the time to finish to trip”

When we were abandoned, he did not bother to give us instructions and to look for us

Never have we come to such nasty experience

Viva Cultura Peru were really great, Yuneska who met us before and looked after us was great, really friendly and helpful. The tour went flawlessly and without a hitch. Everything was great, and our guides along the way were both great. The lunch in Urubamba was a highlight in terms on food, a really good lunch. We always had someone explaining and showing us to were we needed to be. Highly recommend.

Wow, what an amazing experience! I'm usually not one to sign-up for tours but I knew Machu Picchu is strictly timed, so I thought why not try a guided tour? Howlanders exceeded all my expectations. They met with us the day before to go over the itinerary and gave us all our tickets. Each handover between drivers and hotels was super organized and seamless. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and informative. Since we didn't have to worry about the logistics, we got to enjoy the experience to the fullest. Highly recommend adding the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu - you'll get to visit less busy sites that give you a fuller picture of Incan culture. Plus the train to Machu Picchu is unforgettable.

The package as a whole was great. We got good accommodation in Aquas Calientes too and a great guide for the Machu Picchu trip. But one major concern was the guide (German) for Sacred valley on first day - His speech felt like it was recited and was very lethargic. Everyone of us slept while he was talking during the entire trip. Would have appreciated if we got a better guide for that portion

The overall trip was good, it was pretty smooth and no where we felt that we were stranded or didn't know something.
The only issue was our sacred valley tour guide's (His name is German). He was very monotonous and was not able to keep everyone engaged. The experience would have been so much better if the guide was more enthusiastic. (Please take it is as constructive criticism)
On the other hand Yuneshka and the guide in Machu picchu were amazing. The machu picchu guide took a call of staying at the location till the clouds went away and we could take good pictures and he reallyyy kept us interested and engaged making the tour really fun.



Hello! Overall our trip to Machu Picchu was phenomenal. We had exceptional service and hospitality throughout the 2-day trek. Every detail was thought through.  The lunch location was one of our best meals yet. The lodging was okay, not great. We paid for one level up from the hostel. There was no hot heater. Very disappointing. The front desk was wonderful and so helpful. We could not have had such a nice trip to Machu Picchu without her advise and help to sort out our tickets, which were incorrect (see below). 

We had two issues. One was that the Howlander website is not very clear on the choices that are selected - which circuit you are getting. I booked with Howlander specifically because it said they would give Circuit 2. When I had the option to ADD Mountain Machu Picchu, I chose it. It was not clear that in choosing this option I was no infer getting circuit 2 and an included tour, but instead getting circuit 3 with NO TOUR. This was confusing and upsetting to pay more and not get what we expected. Also our tickets for 2 people on the train home were in completely different cabins. We were not aware of this until we arrived at the train station.

My partner and I had a great time on the 2 day Sacred Valley / Matchu Pitchu tour. Everything was so well organised and went so smoothly with no hiccups. The lunch was amazing and the hotel Retana in Aguas Calientes was PERFECT after a long day. The guides on both days were very knowledgeable and were super helpful.  The only thing I would suggest is swapping your train ticket to an earlier train on your way up to Aguas Calientes. We tried too but all the earlier trains were full. It would have been nice to jump in the train at 16:00 and spend the evening in Aguas Calientes as the tour finished around 15:15pm on day one.

This trip was great and so well organised! Machu Picchu was a true highlight and our guide Juan Carlos was amazing. It was nice to have everything arranged for us but still be independent. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fabulous!!! Every single step was perfectly organized. There were lots of strikes that delayed and complicated getting back home from Machu Picchu but the team was so on top of if, I was truly impressed. Apart from it all, these were the best prices I found, other companies had the same package for almost twice the price. I loved every moment of it and will definitely book only with them in the future. Worth every penny!!!

Amazing! We we're a little worried at the start because there's not loads of reviews and it's a reasonable amount cheaper than the alternatives (though still a lot of money) but not actually sure why it's so much cheaper! The guides were all fantastic, we were very well looked after at every step, Ronald replied to every question via WhatsApp promptly and politely (and there was a few questions because I'm an anxious planner). 
The only slight hiccup was the day before the brief was a little different from what we had seen online and there was confusion over luggage etc but it's okay it was all sorted out by Ronald. The very cheerful lady who helped get us to the right place in Aguas Calientes was also fantastic and the train ride was beautiful! Honestly so happy with our choice of tours to the sacred valley and Machu Picchu - didn't feel rushed, could explore bits on our own and get some incredible photos!

Por ponerle un pero, deciros que nadie se puso en contacto con nosotros para preguntarnos por las habitaciones en Aguascalientes y nos llevamos la sorpresa de que nos habían asignado una habitación doble y una habitación triple cuando en el grupo de cinco viajábamos dos matrimonios y una persona soltera.
En ese momento la agencia local nos dice que es un problema entre el cliente y el proveedor y que ellos son intermediarios. Eché en falta en ese momento un teléfono o wasap vuestro para aclarar el malentendido .

Todo perfectamente organizado muy bien. Por poner pega que por lo que hemos pagado, el hotel d Aguascalientes debería ser mejor 

Muy buena experiencia con la agencia, todo muy bien organizado y todas las personas que formaron el tour tanto guias como taxistas y demás muy atentos y amables. 100% recomendable. El guia del valle sagrado Germán muy amable y me gusto mucho como explicaba, el guia Jorge de machu pichu mas de lo mismo. Todos estupendos.

On time,  very informative, enjoyed every moment.

Started out perfect with the coordinator taking care of our luggage and directed us to the shuttle van. We then picked up Rossa which was an incredible guide and very informative on our tour through the Sacred Valley. On arrival in Aquas Calientes from the train, Aide was waiting for us and escorted us to out hotel. The next morning Aide met us at the hotel and guided us through the most amazing experience of Machu Picchu. Total experience was amazing and highly recommended Howlanders tours!

Exceptional Quality and Service
Everything exceeded our expectations. All of the guides were wonderful, the lunch spot was fantastic, and all the details were meticulously planned & carried out. We met a couple of folks from other tours with similar itineraries and ours was clearly a step above the rest. The only thing I might change is not going with the Velodrome as it didn't seem like that much of a difference from the regular passenger area.

I booked with Howlanders for my tour to Machu Picchu and I’m so glad I did!! They went above and beyond to make our experience as fun and easy as possible. The tour guides are great and they offer the best prices. You’ll get the most for your money by booking with Howlanders. The staff is incredible as well. I lost my passport in Ollantaytambo and they were able to find it and have it delivered to me in Cusco within 12 hours. I will definitely book with Howlanders again! :)

The experience we had on the tour was impeccable.  We had the two days, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu tour that began in Cusco and ended in Cusco. For every part of the trip whether it was at the hotel, the train station and at the bus stop, we were greeted by a guide.  They were friendly, knowledgeable and have done their best to allow us to have the best experience possible.  The hotel folks were very nice and accommodating too.    We have had one of the best experiences of our lifetime and a few of us are world travelers by the way so we know and understand what it takes to provide world class services.    These folks do not disappoint!   Many thanks for all the people who put our trip together flawlessly.  Keep up the great work!  ;-)

The 2 days trip was perfectly organized. We got briefed the day before and received all tickets (Peru Rail, Machu Picchu, buses etc) upftont. On each interface (e.g. after arriving by train in Machu Picchu village) a personal guide picked us up, in order to create out journey as smooth as possible. The included Luch at day 1 was amazing (4star buffet at high qualety Restaurant). Some of our mixed group  had to eat in a normal retaurant as they booked with an other agency. The only thing with room for improvement was the night in "ECO Hostel" at machu picchu Picchu village-> very noisy and slightly cold with a twin bed instead of a double bed. However all in all one of the best organized trips we had in Peru.

Well organized tour. Everything ran smoothly and someone was in constant contact with us to make sure everything was okay. I highly recommend this tour and company! It was nice to have someone else plan and handle everything. And the value is great compared to other tour companies that offer the same exact experience.

El minibús iba lleno. Cómo nos recogieon de las últimas, nos tocó sentarnos en la última fila: que no se puede reclinar pero los de delante sí, que tiene 4 asientos en lugar de los 3 de las filas previas y que tenía un pilar enorme que tapaba la mitad de la visibilidad. L consecuencia: Iba aprisionada por delante y el lado derecho, helada por el contacto con la chapa en el izquierdo y perdiéndome tidas las vistas de la salida de Cuzco más las del viaje de ida. Con lo que hemos pagado por el tour esperaba una atención a los detalles, cómo el minibús y que fuéramos cómodos.

All round a great trip. Easy to book, everything went smoothly. Pick ups were all on time and we were met at each stage by a rep who explained clearly what would happen next. Lunch was fabulous and included in the price. Excellent guides. Everything other tours offered was included and the price was unbeatable. They also have an office in Cusco where you can speak to them personally. 5 stars from us, thank you!

Howlanders is an amazing tour service. I was not expecting much since I figured that most of the cost went to actually paying for services like transportation, hotels, and entrance fee. But boy did they go above and beyond. First day's tour of the Sacred Valley included a lunch buffet at a spectacular location with live local music, a river and mountain backdrop, and alpacas petting. The tours were a bit fast-paced as we had to move through several sites/locations before the afternoon train. The accommodations, Eco Machu Picchu, they book at Aguas Caliente was way better than expected. It was a hostel but I got a clean, spacious, and comfortable room with my own bathroom that was basically at 3*** hotel standards. The second day went well but our guide split the group for some reason. He guided the rest of the tour down the temples so the group that went up to the sun gate did not receive very good information for the temples. The second day was amazing but it felt very rushed since the train back to Cusco was in the early afternoon. I think some feature that allows us to choose if we want to leave on a later train or earlier train would have been nice. Overall, Howlanders did an amazing job putting together this unforgettable experience that left me wanting just a little bit more time with each place.

We really enjoyed our tour of macchu picchu and the sacred valley. Met other travelers who booked similar iteneraries through other sites and paid more and I think we got a better experience than most of them. Don't pay extra for the better train (its almost the same and really not worth it) and wouldn't pay extra for better hotel (the hostel was perfectly fine, we even got a private bathroom). Definitely try to aim for the first entrance to macchu picchu (worth waking up early to avoid the crowds) Overall, really happy with howlanders, would definitely recommend. thank you for the experience!!!

Our tour was amazing. We got enough time to learn the history and take tons of pictures. The weather cooperated nicely but even if it didn’t, it would have been great. A world wonder indeed. I’m so glad I went with Howlander. The transportation was great, the train, pick up and drop off, all of it. Hotel accommodations were fantastic. Lunch was great. Just overall 100%.

Really great tour.  Guides and everyone involved were knowledgeable and on time.  Briefings were great too.

All good except for train on return being 2 hours late. It made a very long 8 hours in Machu Picchu town. We didn’t arrive at our hotel until 11.30. We were so relieved to find our driver to take us to Cusco at the station 2 hours after the expected 8.30 arrival

We took the 2-Day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour. The guides were very knowledgeable and they took care of everything (buses and trains) so you didn't have to worry about anything. We had a great Buffet lunch at the Tunupa Restaurant in Urubamba and the food was delicious and they was a big variety for everyone's taste. From the time they picked us up from our hotel in Cusco to the return trip from Ollantaytambo train station back to our hotel there was never any doubt that there would someone waiting for you because they were very professional!

Valoración positiva en general. Los guías Yuri en El Valle Sagrado, Rosa en Aguascalientes y Reyner en Machu Picchu muy amables y claros en sus explicaciones. El hostal limpio y con ubicación cómoda para el tren y el bus pero con mucho ruido, de la calle (niños jugando hasta las 22:00). Desayuno sencillo pero correcto

Todo estuvo muy bien en general ,nosotros escogimos subir la montaña MachuPicchu, nuestra entrada era 7 am los cual estuvo perfecto porque no había mucha gente en asenso y descenso , de ahí nos encontramos con nuestro guía a las 10:45 para realizar el recorrido por las ruinas , pero nuestro tren de regreso salía a las 2 :20 pm por lo que tuvimos que dejar el tour un poco antes de las ir terminara para alcanzara bajar a el pueblo y tomar el tren a tiempo . En general todo estuvo muy bien, las vistas y el lugar es increíble !! Gracias

Hice el tour de Machu Picchu con dos amigos. La verdad es que el tour muy bien, la furgoneta era una Mercedes, los horarios de los trenes muy buenos y Jaqueline, nuestra guia solo para Machu Picchu, era muy buena porque no nos contaba las tipicas leyendas, sino que era más realista, lo recomiendo.

Las fotos no hacen justicia a este mágico lugar. Verlo en persona es impresionante, y mientras recorres sus terrazas, ruinas y templos puedes observar la majestuosa montaña de Huayna Picchu desde distintos ángulos. Una pena no haberla podido subir, lo dejamos pendiente para un próximo viaje! En general el tour muy bien organizado y nuestra guía Jackeline nos enseñó muchas cosas sobre la cultura Inca, un 10!

guides were very good,transport very good,lunch very good.
we went to machu picchu on my 60th birthday and as a surprise howlanders gave us our own guide.
the whole process of getting to macho picchu went very smoothly.you had to make your own way to the train station in both directions but were informed of how to get there (no more than 10 minutes).
which was no problem as you can explore the markets on the route.
would definitely recommend to everyone

Organisation was excellent and the tour went well Thank you very much....one negative was the poor arrangement on the return at Olygantambo it was a free for all and nobody knew where to go to. Hectic . but would recommend you again ...Regards

The day before starting the tour they visited us in our hotel and explained how the tour works. It was not mentioned that the guide does not travel with us on the train, but it is not a problem because at our arrival in Aguas Calientes a new guide was waiting for us. The rest of the tour as expected. Good experience

Bei kleineren Problemen vor Ort unkompliziert und schnell eine prima Lösung gefunden. Ein deutschsprachiges Reisebüro vor Ort in Cuzco hat uns bestätigt, dass der Preis günstig war. El viaje fue muy bien, los dos días del tour pasaron volando. 

A la hora de elegir la ruta estuvimos indecisos por cual de los tour por el Machu Picchu elegir, nos explicaron el itinerario de todas las opciones y la que más se ajustó a nuestro viaje fue el de 2 días visitando Machu Picchu y Valle Sagrado. Desde el principio fueron muy amables y nos facilitaron todo para encajarlo bien en nuestro viaje. Y allí todo salió según lo planeado.

Quiero aprovechar los comentarios de este tour que hicimos hace apenas dos semanas para agradecer el trabajo tan profesional que Javi y su equipo nos dieron a la hora de planificar nuestro tour privado, hasta el punto de hacer realidad todo lo que necesitamos. Viajar a Machu Picchu fue un sueño viajero cumplido y aunque hay que madrugar mucho para subir a la ciudadela, vale muchísimo la pena, ver amanecer en Machu Picchu es increíble!!
Antes de contratar el tour tenía bastantes dudas sobre cuál escoger y finalmente gracias al asesoramiento de Javier, elegí este, que era el más completo, ya que se visitan otros lugares interesantes que se encuentran en el Valle Sagrado.
He de decir que el alojamiento en Aguas calientes es muy sencillo, pero muy limpio y levantándote a las 4am, no necesitas mucho más.

Mi marido y yo pasamos dos días increibles haciendo este tour. La pena es que se pasara tan rapido :((( Por poner un pèro: el alojamiento si que nos pareció algo mejorable pero aun asi lo recomendamos especialmente.

viaje muy recomendable, estoy convencido que no decepcionara a nadie.
Peru tiene historia, gastronomia, gente encantadora, y Javier y su equipo te ayudaran a disfrutarlo, siceramente.
realizamos varias excursiones: cañon del colca, lago Titicaca, Machupichu. todas bien coordinadas, y con guias y transporte adecuado.tambien destacar la recogida en el aeropuerto o los enlaces entre distintas ciudades del itinerario.
