Los Brecitos After picking up the last adventurers in Los Llanos de Aridane we’ll take the bus and head towards the lookout point in Los Brecitos. At the beginning of our journey we’ll see, in the distance, the heart of the Caldera de Taburiente. We’ll go downhill towards the Barranco de las Angustias and back uphill until reaching Los Brecitos, where the bus will drop us off to start our hike.

Before getting started our guide will take a few minutes to introduce the trail and the beautiful Caldera de Taburiente National Park.

Caldera de Taburiente National Park The first part of our route is fairly easy, with barely any rocks on the downhill trail and Canary Island pines to keep us cool, specially in the summer months. During this first stretch we’ll enjoy spectacular views from the south side of the crater, as well as the mountain crest above us.

Throughout our hike we’ll visit several lookout points, including the Lomo de Tagasaste lookout point, where we’ll be able to enjoy wonderful views from the heart of the Caldera de Taburiente.

Lunch break Around three hours into our hike we’ll reach the middle of the Caldera de Taburiente, where we’ll take our lunch break surrounded by Canary Island pines and a beautiful mountain landscape. Food and drinks are not included in the tour, so remember to pack your lunch beforehand.

The more adventurous can also use this break to swim or simply cool down in the ravine.

After this well-deserved break, we’ll continue down the hiking trail towards the visitor centre, where our guide will present all the information to our group.

Cascada de Colores After our visit to the visitor centre we will continue our downhill trek, which will become steeper, until reaching the ravine again. During this stretch of the route we’ll be able to enjoy the views of the Idafe Rock, one of the staples of the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. From here we will take a detour to the Cascada de Colores, a beautiful coloured waterfall that we won’t want to miss.

Barranco de las Angustias Shortly after we will reach Dos Aguas, where the Taburiente and Almendro Amargo streams meet. At this point of our hike we might think we’ve taken a completely different trail, because the ground, the rocks, the flora and the views are significantly different. This means we’re reaching the Barranco de las Angustias, which will be the last stretch of our hiking tour.

End of the journey At the end of our hike, we’ll go back to the bus to make one last stop next to the ravine, where we’ll be able to enjoy the views to the Caldera de Taburiente one last time. From here we’ll return to the meeting point in Los Llanos de Aridane. If you selected the extra Transport from and to your accommodation in La Palma the bus will take you back to your accommodation in La Palma.
