To the meeting point in Los Sauces at 3:00 p.m.
If you select the extra Transport from and to your accommodation in La Palma, the activity will start with the pick-up at your hotel. The private transport will start at the door of the main hotels on La Palma at 8:15 a.m. Once the first part of the group is gathered on La Palma, we will head towards Los Sauces.
If you have not included the extra pick-up fee in your booking, here is where we will meet. We'll wait for you at the bus stop before the bridge. We start at an altitude of 400 m and we will go up together by car to 1,300 m. Arriving at the Casa del Monte: the beginning of the trail.
The uphill road at the beginning will go through the hamlet of Las Lomadas. Small houses attached to the side of the road full of gardens will accompany us on this stretch of the journey. At this point, the trail will begin to fill with vegetation and gradually the asphalt will disappear. This will mean that we will be arriving at the starting point of the hiking route.
Step by step, we will make our way through the dense vegetation. We will cross vines and ferns that will almost cover the road. This pre-walk will also be part of our adventure at Marcos and Cordero Springs. We have arrived at the Casa del Monte!
Here you will have a moment to prepare and pick up your helmet and flashlight equipment with the help of the guide. We will start walking by the side of the old canal, from where we will be able to appreciate the route we will follow until we reach the bowels of the Barranco del Agua. A few minutes later, if the thick fog allows us, we will be able to admire its immensity. Vertical walls that reach a thousand meters above us.
A couple of more steps, and we can already see the first of the 13 tunnels that we will cross today, are you ready to enter this route of tunnels that are born from water? The tunnels are wide enough to go through without any problem. In some of them we'll have to bend over and dodge some rocks. With the help of the helmet and the flashlight everything will be much easier. Every tunnel has a story that you will get to know throughout this day.
We have reached the first spring: Marcos. Here you will see how the water flows from the rock in great quantities. The walk will start to go uphill to reach the second spring, the one of Cordero. Right next to the spring of Cordero we will make a stop to eat something, taking advantage of the view that accompanies us.
After this little break, we go on! The next section of the route will take us to Los Tilos, a spectacular laurel forest. It will be the moment to put ourselves to the test. A descent of 1000m in 8km. Giant ferns will start to appear everywhere and suddenly you're in this spectacular place. On rainy days the water flows like a real river.
This first part of the descent will take us to the bottom of the Barranco del Agua. We will go around large rocks, sometimes full of moss. We will leave the ravine behind, and start another area of equal difficulty but already following a traditional path. Here we will find some loose rocks and irregular stone steps. This path will take us to the deepest area of La Palma.
The height of the laurel forest will be so great that we won't be able to see the sky until the end of the road. A wooden bridge over the ravine will indicate that we have reached the Los Tilos forest. During this last stretch of the route we will approach the viewpoint of the Espigón Atravesado.
Here you will have the perfect opportunity to photograph this wonderful protected area and face the last stretch of the walk. We will enjoy ourselves in the vegetation and the old linden trees that we will find along the way. At the end of the route we will be able to have a drink at the Los Tilos Restaurant to share anecdotes and photos of the walk before we return to our starting points.
