📍 Meeting at Jökulsálón Glacier Lagoon parking lot

At the main parking lot of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, you’ll meet your guide and the rest of the group. Don’t forget to check your booking confirmation because that’s where we’ll provide the exact coordinates for the meeting point. 😉 We recommend arriving 15 minutes early because the guide won’t be able to wait for us if we are running late. Next, we’ll get suited up: a dry suit, safety vest, shoes, and a paddle. Let’s go!

The guide will give a short tutorial on how to use the kayak then, they’ll help everyone get into the water. As a group, we’ll start paddling through the glacial waters. Don’t worry about getting wet! We’ll be equipped with a dry suit. Our guide will lead us through floating icebergs and to see the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier from a unique angle.

Good pictures are a must, so our guide will help us snap some memories before giving us time to admire the glaciers and take in the surrounding nature. As we do so we’ll also learn some facts about the area from our knowledgeable guide. 

After an hour exploring the lagoon, we’ll turn back to land. We’ll return the equipment, use the changing rooms, and finally say goodbye to the guide and the group. This marks the end of our water-filled adventure!

The meeting point is located in the main parking lot of Jökulsárlón and is easily accessible from the “Ring Road”, the main road in Iceland. It is located 40 minutes from Skaftafell, one hour from Höfn, 1.5 hours from Vik and 4.5 hours from Reykjavík.

    Kayaks are very stable small boats and this excursion is suitable for travelers with no previous experience.

  • We are a group of five travelers, how are the kayaks distributed?

    Double and single kayaks are available for travelers. If your group has an odd number of people, one traveler will paddle in a single kayak.
