For the realization of this activity it is essential to be comfortable in the water, be able to swim and be able to communicate in English.
This tour has an extra fee to pick you up at one of the bus stops in Reykjavík, don't forget to tell us where you want to be picked up at the time of booking.
You can not snorkel in Silfra if: - You are pregnant - You are less than 150 cm tall - You are more than 200 cm tall - You weigh less than 45 kilos - You weigh more than 120 kilos - You are over 69 years of age (if you are over 60 years of age, you need a medical exemption, available on page 2 of the Medical Declaration). - The minimum age is 12 years old (children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)

Silfra fissure snorkeling
📍 Meeting point
Our adventure starts at the meeting point in Thingvellir National Park. We will give you the details of the exact point in the booking confirmation. Did you know that this park was declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO? Once the group is gathered, we will begin our journey to the Silfra fissure through the volcanic fields.
During this journey, the guide will give us indications and safety information to take into account during the activity. We are about to enter the water, but first we have to equip ourselves. We will be given all the necessary equipment, thermal suit, dry suit, neoprene hoods and gloves, snorkel mask and fins, ready for a swim?
We go into the water of incredible blue tones. Thanks to our snorkel mask, we will be able to see all the details of the Silfra rift, such as the walls full of underwater flora. While swimming in this rift, you are moving between continents, as it is the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
We will reach Silfra Hall, the widest area of the fissure, and continue to Silfra Cathedral, the deepest section. We finish with the Royal Blue Lagoon, the shallowest part, which appears before our eyes as an oasis.
We will get out of the water after 40 minutes of diving and after leaving the equipment, cookies and a cup of hot drink are waiting for us, usually chocolate, nothing better to regain strength 😉 We will return to the meeting point where our Silfra Fissure Snorkeling tour will have come to an end.

Where does the tour Silfra fissure snorkeling start
From Reykjavík to Silfra is a 50-minute drive. Once in Thingvellir National Park, you can leave your vehicle parked at Þingvellir Parking P5 and from there walk to the meeting point just 5 minutes away.
You can also choose the extra fee for pick up in Reykjavik and we will pick you up at the bus stop closest to your accommodation.
