During the 3 days Iquitos Jungle Trip you will discover the Peruvian Amazon. Lodged in front of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, you will learn the secrets of the jungle. The lodge is part of a rural community-based tourism project and is run by a native community.

During 3 days, you will navigate through its rivers, walk through the jungle, feel the sounds of nature, see birds, monkeys, caimans, pink dolphins and much more! Enjoy a unique ecosystem with this private tour. The description is indicative, and the itinerary is fully customizable. You will be able to organize yours with your guide as it best suits you.

todayDAY 1 City of Iquitos - Transfer to the jungle lodge

Pick up in the city of Iquitos

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel or at the airport in the city of Iquitos, as you indicate in the booking form.

If you select hotel pick up, we will pick you up at 8:00 am. If you prefer the guide to pick you up at the airport, remember to indicate your flight information and arrival time when you make the reservation.

Transfer to the lodge

In the company of your guide, you will head to Nauta on a 2-hour drive by road. Once there, you will take the boat that will take you to the lodge, located on the banks of the Ucayali River, in front of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

Take advantage of the boat ride (about 3 hours long) to discover all the activities you can do in the Iquitos Jungle and plan your itinerary with the guide.


🐬 Swimming with pink dolphins

Upon arrival at the lodge you will settle into your private room and after lunch, the Amazon adventure begins! We will take advantage of the afternoon to take a boat ride, enjoying the sunset and swimming close to the pink dolphins. We will return to the lodge for dinner and in the evening we will go on an expedition in search of nocturnal animals.

todayDAY 2 Iquitos Jungle

🌿 Jungle walk

After having breakfast and getting our strength back, we will start our second day in Iquitos with a jungle walk. You will be able to appreciate first hand the spectacular nature of the Amazon while the guide explains everything our eyes see.


🐒 Bird and monkey watching

We will return to the lodge for lunch, you will have time to rest and later we will go out by boat for bird watching. We will approach an area where we will see monkeys, if we are lucky, some will even approach the boat to say hello!

🐊 Night boat expedition to see caimans

We will return to the lodge to enjoy a relaxing dinner and then we will have the chance to go out in the boats to look for caimans with our flashlights and see in the darkness of the night the reflection of their bright and lively eyes. Quite an adventure!

todayDAY 3 Iquitos jungle - Return to the city of Iquitos

🎣 Piranha fishing

After breakfast at the lodge, we will leave once again with the boats to continue discovering the Iquitos jungle. Today we will have ahead of us a unique activity that you can only do in the Amazon: fishing for piranhas. On the way back, we will be able to see the impressive Amazonian Victorias, known as the giant water lilies.


📍 Return to Iquitos city

We will return to the lodge for lunch, pick up our luggage and head back to Iquitos by boat with the guide.

Where does the tour Iquitos Jungle Trip start

The most comfortable and safe way to reach Iquitos is by plane, since it is not connected to the road-network of the rest of the country. The majority of travelers arrive from Lima, where several airlines operate. Latam airline, however, is the only one that offers direct flights between Cusco and Iquitos.

Al reservar esta experiencia en ningún momento esperábamos lujo pero tampoco lo buscábamos. Querríamos de alguna forma experimentar la selva de la forma más auténtica posible, tener una idea de cómo es vivir allí y eso es lo que te ofrece esta experiencia. Paseos por los ríos, ver animales en su hábitat, monos, pájaros, insectos, peces, delfines, perezosos, geckos, etc. Comida local riquísima y sana, la cama ha sido muy cómoda y el hecho de estar rodeada de red nos ha protegido de las picaduras. Ha sido una experiencia inolvidable que la recomiendo. Hemos desconectado como nunca, literalmente porque no había cobertura. He sentido otra vez lo que significa que el día parezca lento e infinito y lo echaba de menos. Totalmente recomendable! El equipo nos ha ayudado en todo momento, nos ha contestado rapidísimo y nos ha asesorado de la mejor manera posible.

Larry and Wilson were both very knowledgeable about the area, plants and animals. Our guide, Larry, spoke excellent English. The food was amazing and was easily adapted for a vegetarian and vegan. This was truely an an amazing experience!

What is the best time of the year to visit the Iquitos Jungle?
Any time of the year is great to enjoy the Amazon, but it is good to know that the rainy season is between the months of December and May. If you want to know each of the steps you will do during the tour read this article from our blog where we explain you personally all the adventure.

What is the climate like?
The Amazon is hot and humid, being a quite variable climate.

Are the cabins prepared to repel mosquitoes?
Yes, all rooms have a mosquito net. We also recommend bringing a good tropical repellent and using it several times a day.
