Tour itinerary
Day 1: Puerto Maldonado Airport – Lodge – Monkey Island
Arrival and transfer to the lodge
Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado Airport, your guide will meet you and transfer you to the city (approx. 15 minutes). After a short stop at the office, you will board a boat and travel along the Madre de Dios River. After about 60 minutes downstream, you will reach the lodge, located on the riverbank, 15 km southwest of the city, inside the Tambopata National Reserve.
You’ll be welcomed with a refreshing fruit juice, settle into your room, and enjoy lunch before beginning your first jungle activities.

Visit to Monkey Island
In the afternoon, explore the famous Monkey Island, located in the middle of the Madre de Dios River. This natural sanctuary is home to Amazonian primates such as squirrel monkeys, capuchins, howler monkeys, and spider monkeys. Watch them in their natural habitat before returning to the lodge.

Caiman spotting
At dusk, head out on a guided night walk along the riverbank to search for white caimans using flashlights. With a bit of luck, you may also spot a capybara—the largest rodent in the world. After this adventure, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Tambopata National Reserve – Sandoval Lake
Tambopata National Reserve Exploration
After breakfast at the lodge, begin a 3 km hike through the lush Amazon rainforest until you reach the Tambopata National Reserve.

Canoeing on Sandoval Lake
Continue with a canoe ride on Sandoval Lake, one of the most iconic natural areas of the Peruvian Amazon. Along the way, you may spot monkeys, colorful birds, giant caimans, and with some luck, a family of endangered giant river otters.
Return to the lodge for a traditional Amazonian lunch before your evening adventure.

Night walk in the jungle
At night, take a guided walk through the rainforest to discover nocturnal species such as insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other wildlife active after dark. Afterwards, return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Canopy Walk-Way – Zipline – Kayak – Artisanal Fishing
Canopy Walk-Way at sunrise
The day begins early, at 5:30 AM, with a walk along the Canopy Walk-Way. This suspension bridge, 30 meters (98 ft) above the ground, offers panoramic views of the Madre de Dios River and the surrounding rainforest. From the observation platforms, you can spot Amazonian birds like toucans, macaws, tanagers, and oropendolas.

Zipline adventure
After breakfast, experience the thrill of a zipline over the jungle canopy, soaring more than 30 meters high. A specialized guide will provide instructions and ensure your safety during the activity.

Kayaking on the Madre de Dios River
In the afternoon, paddle a kayak across the Madre de Dios River, enjoying the beauty of the Amazonian sunset before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Artisanal fishing
Following kayaking, try your hand at artisanal fishing on the river. With patience, you may catch local species such as catfish or piranhas.

Day 4: Return to Puerto Maldonado – Airport
Farewell and transfer
After breakfast at the lodge, collect your luggage and travel by boat back to the city of Puerto Maldonado. From there, a transfer will take you to the airport or bus station, marking the end of your Puerto Maldonado 4-Day Jungle Tour.
