Your adventure begins at Puerto Bahía Túnel, where you’ll board a boat and cruise across Lake Viedma while enjoying views of the Huemul Massif. The boat tour continues into the bay until reaching Bahía Cabo de Hornos, where you’ll disembark for a guided hike to a viewpoint overlooking the stunning Bahía de los Témpanos (Icebergs Bay).

Then, you’ll return to the boat and continue sailing toward the front of the Viedma Glacier, getting an up-close look at its towering ice walls. After taking in the scenery, the boat will return to Puerto Bahía Túnel.

Viedma Glacier Boat Tour from El Chaltén

If you have selected the option with transfers of the Viedma Glacier Boat tour, you will have to go to the meeting point in El Chaltén to walk together the 11,2 miles (18 kilometers) that separate it from the starting point.

Meeting point in Puerto Bahía Túnel📍

If you have selected the option without transfers, you will have to go to Puerto Bahía Túnel, located inside Los Glaciares National Park. It is important that you arrive at least 15 minutes before departure time.

With the whole group assembled, you will board the vessel that will depart at 10:30 am.

Boat tour at Viedma Lake🛥️

Once aboard the boat, you will skirt the shore of Lake Viedma and you will be able to contemplate the imposing silhouette of the Huemul Massif.

Trekking in Cabo de Hornos🏔️ Bay

After approximately 40 minutes of sailing, you will arrive at Cabo de Hornos Bay, where you will disembark for a guided trekking of low difficulty. The guide will set the pace of the group and help you along the way. The trail leads to a panoramic point on the Cape Horn Peninsula, from where you will observe the magical Bahía de los Témpanos (Icebergs Bay). Take the opportunity to recharge your batteries with a small snack included in the tour before returning to the boat to continue the excursion.

Glacier Viedma❄️

You will board the ship again and get ready to experience the most awaited moment of the excursion: the approach to the Viedma Glacier. From the deck, you will appreciate the immense ice wall in all its magnitude, while the guide interprets the history and formation of this millenary glacier, the largest in Argentina, inside the Glaciers National Park.

Disembark at Puerto Bahía Túnel - Transfer to El Chaltén (optional)

Finally, the boat tour will start the return to the port where you will disembark at 2:30 pm. If you have booked the tour with transfers, the transport will be waiting for you at the port to take you back to the meeting point in El Chaltén. You will be there around 3:00 pm.

If you book the tour with transfer, the total duration is about 5 hours, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm approximately, including transfers to and from El Chaltén.
