Meeting in Tromsø and Departure on a Scenic Bus
You’ll meet your guide at the designated meeting point and hop on a warm, panoramic bus with a glass roof—perfect for keeping an eye on the sky from the moment the journey begins. Sometimes the northern lights even make an early appearance during the drive!
Each night is unique, so the route is planned based on the weather and aurora forecast. If needed, you might even cross into Finland to find the best spot for sightings.

Aurora Hunting and Photo Workshop
Throughout the night, you'll make several stops in carefully chosen locations. Your guide—an expert in the region—will lead you through breathtaking Arctic landscapes while sharing insights about the northern lights. They'll also help you set up your camera and tripod to capture the best possible shots.
Once you find the ideal spot, you’ll take a longer break. A campfire will be lit, and you’ll enjoy hot drinks, snacks, and the peaceful atmosphere. And if you’re lucky, you might even spot wild reindeer nearby.

Return to Tromsø
After a magical night chasing the Northern Lights, you’ll head back to Tromsø. The tour usually lasts between 5 and 8 hours, depending on the weather and sky conditions. Can I take photos during the Northern Lights tour?
Absolutely! Bring your own camera, and your guide will help you set it up to capture amazing shots of the auroras. Plus, the tour includes a photo workshop, and you’ll receive professional photos afterward as a keepsake.
What kind of vehicle is used?
You’ll travel in modern, air-conditioned minibuses designed for Arctic conditions. Some even have panoramic roofs so you won’t miss a thing while on the move.
How far do you go to find the auroras?
The route depends on the weather forecast. Sometimes it’s just a short drive outside Tromsø; other times you may cross into Finland to find clear skies and strong solar activity. Every night is different!
What should I wear?
Dress in multiple thermal layers, waterproof jacket and pants, winter boots, hat, gloves, and scarf. While thermal suits are provided, it’s best to come well prepared.

Temperatures during the tour can range from about 23°F down to -13°F, so make sure to dress warmly to enjoy the outdoor experience comfortably.

The minibuses don’t have bathrooms, but we make regular stops—and extra ones if needed—to ensure your comfort.
