Important information
🗻 It is very important to properly acclimate to the altitude before starting the tour, as it takes place in high-altitude areas.
🌧️ During the rainy season (from December to April), the itinerary may change, as the salt flat gets flooded and some areas like Inca Huasi Island may not be accessible.
🚗 The tour is conducted in 7-seater 4x4 vehicles with 6 passengers and the driver. Travelers take turns with the seats in the vehicle.
🙋 The driver gives brief explanations in Spanish or very basic English about the places visited. This tour does not include a guide service as it is not considered necessary.

Pick-up in Uyuni
Prepare your warm clothes, and come with your camera battery well charged, we are going to see the sunset in the Uyuni Salt Flat! The guide will pick us up at 16:00. In the company of our guide, we will get into the 4x4 vehicle and head towards the Uyuni Salt Flat, the most impressive sunset in Bolivia will be waiting for us.

We will enter the more than 10,000 square kilometers that form the Uyuni Salt Flat and cross its famous Salt Eyes under the last rays of sunlight. The guide will then look for the perfect location so that we can enjoy the exact moment when the sun begins to disappear. We will get off the 4x4 vehicle and put on our wellington boots. Without a doubt, this will be the ideal place to enjoy the best sunset in Bolivia.

Return to Uyuni
There’s no better way to say goodbye to this magical sunset than with a glass of wine in hand. The guide will prepare a small tasting of local wines, which we’ll enjoy under the last rays of light as the first stars begin to appear in the sky. Afterwards, we’ll get into the 4x4 that will take us back to the city of Uyuni, where we’ll finish the Sunset Tour in the Uyuni Salt Flats.

Due to the altitude, the days are usually mild and the nights very cold, especially between April and October. It's important to bring plenty of warm clothing.

Getting to Uyuni is easier than it seems. Here are the main options so you can choose the one that best fits your trip:
✈️ By plane from La Paz: the fastest way to get there. There are daily flights to Uyuni's airport (Joya Andina).
🚌 By bus from La Paz: an affordable and popular option among travelers. Night buses run every day.
We recommend taking the tourist night bus from La Paz with the companies Bus Titicaca or Bus Cisne.
🚂 By train (optional from Oruro): a different experience for the more adventurous. First, you need to get to Oruro (by bus or train from La Paz), then take the train to Uyuni.

Is it very cold during the tour?
From April to September temperatures are very low, during the day approximately 10ºC (50ºF), but during the night they drop to -5ºC (23ºF). The months of June, July and August are especially cold. From October to March temperatures are warmer, during the day they can exceed 20ºC (68ºF), during the night they are lower than 5ºC (41ºF).During what times of the year can the mirror effect be seen?
The mirror effect occurs during the rainy season, during the months of January, February and March. This phenomenon, also known as reflections, causes the sky to be reflected in the salt flat itself.How can I avoid altitude sickness?
Due to the altitude of El Salar it is possible to have altitude sickness, as many travelers arrive from La Paz their body is already accustomed to the altitude, but we still recommend drinking plenty of water, eating light, avoiding alcohol and if you consider it appropriate, take a pill for altitude sickness.Does the driver speak English and will he give us explanations and help us take pictures?
The drivers speak very little English, sometimes almost none, but in Spanish he will give some explanations about the visited area, although he cannot be expected to offer the services of a guide. No doubt he will help you to take the best pictures 😊
In which hotels is pick-up not included?
The hotels Hotel Palacio de Sal, Hotel Luna Salada, Hotel Cristal Samaña and Hotel Sumaj Rijcharij do not include pick up. We offer two options, free pick up when the tour passes through the area (after visiting the train cemetery and Colchani) or the extra that includes pick up and transfer to Uyuni to start from the beginning with the whole group.Will we see the stars during the tour?
Yes, the tour ends at dusk, when the first stars begin to appear in the sky.
