We’ll pick you up from where you’re staying and take you about 150 km (93,20 miles) east for a 2-hour hike through the Korouoma Valley. You’ll stroll along some amazing snowy trails before hitting those stunning frozen waterfalls—trust us, you’ve never seen anything like it! You’ll have plenty of time to soak in the views and snap as many pics as you want.

Excursion to the frozen waterfalls of Korouoma
Duration: 6 hours and a half
Difficulty: medium
Pick up from accommodation and transfer to Posio region
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up at your accommodation in Rovaniemi and board an air-conditioned minibus to head southeast of Rovaniemi, specifically to the Posio region. This trip takes about an hour and a half and you will be able to admire the scenery of small Finnish villages and snowy forests.
Hiking in the Kurouoma Valley
Once we arrive at the starting point of the hike, the guide will explain basic tricks to be able to walk in sections where there are too many layers of snow. You will hike for 2 hours through snowy forests near the Korojoki River - you may even see this river frozen! Along the way, the guide will also show you fairytale places and tell you the history of the waterfalls; our next stop.
Korouoma frozen waterfalls
As we advance on the hiking route we will approach the impressive frozen waterfalls of Korouoma and voila! When you have them in front of you they will leave you speechless. Enjoy the fresh air and the white snow.
You will have enough time to rest, get close to the waterfalls and take all the pictures you want.
In addition, so that you can warm up, the guide will give you a hot drink, usually chocolate or tea.
Return to Rovaniemi
After the time enjoying the waterfalls, the minibus will be waiting for us at a nearby point to take us back to Rovaniemi where we will drop you off at your accommodation, your body will surely appreciate a bit of heating during the ride! This trip will take about an hour and a half.

Rovaniemi is located near the Arctic Circle, so it has a cold climate almost all year round, reaching temperatures below zero in the winter months (November-March).
As in any Nordic climate you will need warm clothes, mainly thermal. Although the activity offers this service as an extra, here is a summary of the essentials to visit Rovaniemi at any time of the year:

This tour includes pick-up service from your accommodation in Rovaniemi.
Depending on your country of origin, there are direct flights connecting Rovaniemi with other European destinations.
Otherwise, there is also the possibility to travel by train or bus from Helsinki to Rovaniemi.
The train journey takes between 9 and 12 hours and costs about 80 euros per person. There is also the possibility to travel by night train.
The bus takes about 12 hours and costs between 25 and 35 euros but you may need to transfer during the trip.

Is this tour suitable for all audiences?
No, this tour is not suitable for people with reduced mobility, knee problems or pregnant women. If you come with children, keep in mind that some sections will have very high layers of snow and because of their height, they will have more difficulty walking, but the guide will help you at all times. Remember that children under 4 years old are not allowed.
Are food and beverages included?
Hot drinks are included in the tour and will be provided at the end of the tour when we arrive at the waterfalls. If you want something to eat, you can bring it and enjoy it when we take a break.
Is thermal clothing rental included?
No, only snow boots are included, which you can purchase as an extra at the time of booking. However, you will have to bring your own clothes.
Is the journey through the snow complicated?
The hike is not complicated as long as we follow the advice and guidelines of the guide who will lead us through the easiest areas. In any case, if you do not have experience hiking in the snow, we recommend that you inform the guide to avoid any kind of incident.
What is the season for this tour?
This is a winter tour and operates between November and April.
