This tour is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

There is no minimum age to join, but if you're traveling with children under 2, please keep in mind that temperatures in Lapland from November to March can be extremely cold. Make sure to dress them in proper thermal clothing.

This tour runs year-round, but please note that winter is peak season, and you might have to wait in line to see Santa. Be patient—it’s worth it!

Santa Claus Village Tour from Rovaniemi

Duration: 3 hours and a half

Pickup and Transfer to Santa Claus Village

At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Rovaniemi by minibus and head to Santa Claus Village, located just 20 minutes away. There, Santa lives surrounded by his elves and loyal reindeer. Our first stop will be the visit with Santa Claus. You'll have time to talk with him, share your Christmas wishes, and hand him your gift list. If you’re an adult—let your inner child shine! It’s a magical experience for all ages. Then, we’ll stop by the official Santa Claus Post Office, where the elves work tirelessly all year. You can even send a postcard to friends or family from there!

After meeting Santa, our guide will share fun facts, stories, and curiosities about Santa Claus and the village. Did you know Santa used to wear green? Ask your guide to find out why that changed!

Free time in the village

After lunch, you’ll have free time to explore the village, shop for souvenirs, and interact with the reindeer. You can pet and feed them—as long as you follow the safety instructions provided by the guide. These gentle animals guide Santa across the stars on the night of December 24. Will you be able to spot Rudolph, the most famous reindeer of all?

Once we’ve finished enjoying the village, our minibus will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi. You’ll leave with one of the most unforgettable Christmas memories: meeting Santa Claus in person 😊

What to bring to Santa Claus Village from Rovaniemi tour

Rovaniemi is located near the Arctic Circle, which means it’s cold most of the year, often with subzero temperatures in winter (November–March). Even though thermal gear can be rented as part of the tour, here’s a list of essentials to bring:

  • Thermal base layer (top and bottom)

Pickup is included from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. Depending on your country of origin, there may be direct flights to Rovaniemi from various European cities. If not, you can travel from Helsinki to Rovaniemi by train or bus:

Train: The journey takes 9–12 hours and costs around €80 per person. There is also an overnight train option.

Bus: The bus ride takes about 12 hours, costs between €25–35, and may require one or more transfers.

  • Is this activity suitable for children?

    Yes, this tour is family friendly and can be enjoyed by all ages, from infants to seniors. Just remember that due to the low temperatures, it is essential that if you come with babies, they come with thermal clothing and well prepared for the weather.

  • How long does the visit to Santa Claus last?

    Depending on the season, the visit may be shorter or longer but normally you will have 10 minutes to be with him, ask him questions and take as many pictures as you want.

  • Do you have to wait in line to get into Santa's house?

    In winter the influx of people in Rovaniemi is much higher, especially in the month of December, so it is possible that the waiting time in the queue increases compared to the rest of the year. In any case, do not worry as Santa Claus will welcome all visitors and his team of elves will be in charge of brightening up the time you spend in the queue.

  • Is it possible to visit the reindeer?

    Of course you can! Santa's reindeer will be eager to meet you and you will be able to interact with them by petting them, taking pictures and feeding them, but remember to always follow the guide's instructions to avoid any incident. The reindeer sleigh rides are subject to availability but you can ask directly in the village if it is possible to do it that day.

  • Does the tour include food?

    Yes, before the end of the tour, you will have some time to enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch with a hot drink included, usually chocolate.

  • Are there vegan and/or vegetarian options?

    Yes, the tour offers the possibility of adapting the lunch for vegan and/or vegetarian diets as long as you let us know in advance when contacting the agency.
