Armstrong Redwoods Natural State Reserve
Duration of the visit: 1 hour and 30 minutes

During our visit to Armstrong Redwoods Natural State Reserve, we will see the largest sequoias we have ever seen. We will enjoy a walk in this forest while the guide tells us curiosities about this magical park. Since this is a lesser-known Bay Area jewel, that is not traveled by large groups of tourists, it feels like the trees are there just for you. Your guide will give you the backstory of the park’s founder Colonel James Armstrong and his conservation efforts dating back to the 1870s. Trail enthusiasts can enjoy free time to explore parts of the 9.2-mile network for pathways that lead to an amphitheater, moderate hikes, and more

Lunch: Guerneville and Goat Rock
Duration of the visit: 30 minutes

We will purchase lunch in the old railroad town of Guerneville and, weather permitting, take it to go picnic on the beach. We will spend time at Goat Rock, which many recognize from the film “The Goonies”. Old good memories!
Afterwards, sit back and relax as you enjoy the ride along the winding 2-lane highways of Sonoma County en route back to Highway 1.

Bodega Bay & Sausalito

We will stop in towns such as Bodega Bay, where Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Birds was filmed.

Before heading back to San Francisco, we will stop in one of the Bay Area’s most quaint towns: Sausalito. You’ll have about an hour to enjoy shopping and walking around the main drag’s art galleries. It’s also the picture-perfect spot with backdrops like San Francisco’s cityscape, and colorful houseboats and sailboats in the Sausalito Marina.

Back to San Francisco

To return to San Francisco from Sausalito, there are two options. On the one hand with the vehicle we have made the tour with, which will leave us at our hotel around 6:00 p.m. On the other hand, you can take the 30 minutes ferry that connects Sausalito and San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. The ferry ticket is not included in the tour, since not all travelers take this option, from Howlanders we recommend this option. Enjoy!
