In this navigation you'll discover the northern arm of Lake Argentino. You'll visit the Seco, Heim, Spegazzini and Upsala glaciers, entering the bays they form. You will also sail along a river of ice floes.

You'll feel the emotion of listening to the cracking ice as it falls from the glacier; and the impressive explosions of the ice fragments as they fall into the water.

Excited? This is what your day will be like:

Tour itinerary

todayDAY 1 El Calafate - Los Glaciares National Park- La Soledad Port- El Calafate

access_time7 : 00 AM
Pick-up at your accommodation The tour starts with the pick up at your accommodation. Depending on your location, you will be picked up between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. When the group is gathered in El Calafate, we will go to Los Glaciares National Park.
Los Glaciares National Park After 40 kilometers, you'll arrive to the park. With the help of your guide you will buy your ticket to Los Glaciares National Park. You can buy the one-day version as well as the two-day version (in case you want to return the next day).
access_time8 : 30 AM
Punta Bandera Port Once we're inside the park, we'll go to the port Punta Bandera. The adventure begins! You will embark on a large catamaran that has four exterior decks to comfortably observe the spectacular landscapes of the National Park. In addition, the boat has a VIP area with a private outside deck. To enjoy this area, you only have to select this extra when you make your reservation.
Canal y Glaciar Upsala Be prepared: here you will find the biggest icebergs in the park. They are up to four times bigger than the boat itself! Upsala is the second largest glacier in South America. The landslides are so huge, that for safety reasons the boat will not go within 10 kilometers of it. You will see ice floats in such an intense blue colour that they will seem illuminated.
The hanging glaciers We will continue sailing and we'll encounter the curious hanging glaciers. These are the Heim and Seco glaciers, named this way because they hang from the mountain without touching the lake water.
access_time1 : 00 PM
Glaciar Speggazzini The Speggazzini glacier is impressive from every angle. The protruding part of the glacier is 130 metres high. It's almost twice as high as the Perito Moreno glacier! For lunch, you have several options. You can buy food in El Calafate and bring it with you on the tour, or you could also buy it on board of the ship. If you book the Captain's Club VIP cabin as an extra, you will enjoy a 3-step menu: appetizer, hot lunch and a sweet toast.
All good things come to an end After enjoying your day sailing, the boat will return to Punta Bandera Port. There the transfer will be waiting for you to take you back to your accommodation in El Calafate. You will arrive to the city between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., ready to rest after an incredible day.

Ottimo tour, intera giornata.

A very good catamaran excursion across Lake Argentino. I love lake excursions, and Rios de Hielo Express gets pretty close to the Spegazzini Glacier. The view of this glacier from the boat was gorgeous! It does not get that close to the Upsala, as it is dangerous to approach, because it is immense.
