If you plan to travel to El Calafate by land you should take a bus. The stretch between Buenos Aires and El Calafate takes about 36 hours. From Rio Gallegos, the trip takes 4 hours. If you are coming from Puerto Natales, we recommend you take a bus that will take you to El Calafate in about five hours.
